The Maintenance Support Central (MSC) is an initiative by the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO). MSC aims to empower financially vulnerable individuals to understand their marital and maintenance rights and provides them with all-rounded support from our community partners.
We are looking for a Social Service Executive.
SCWO’s Maintenance Support Central (MSC) is hiring a Social Service Executive to provide assistance and support to financially vulnerable individuals and to be involved in MSC’s day-to-day operations and programme management which includes Single Mothers Programme. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to be part of various advocacy projects that can make impactful changes to society!
Your primary role as a social service executive is to provide vital support to individuals in understanding their maintenance and marital rights. Additionally, your role will be to provide a holistic support for clients to be empowered to be more financially independent for themselves and their children. At MSC, we also work closely with other social service agencies and government organisations to refer our clients for services that are most applicable and beneficial for them. As a social services executive, you have the opportunity to change lives by providing aid that many are not aware are available to them.
KeyResponsibilities
MSC Operations and Administration
- Provide timely, professional, and client-centred support to individuals seeking assistance from MSC through various channels, including calls, WhatsApp, emails, walk-ins, referrals, and other platforms.
- Assist clients with Fresh Maintenance and Enforcement of Maintenance applications (training will be provided) and guide them through the maintenance process.
- Explain Family Law procedures and terminology in a clear and accessible manner to clients.
- Coordinate and ensure the smooth and effective operation of MSC's twice-monthly legal clinics.
- Plan, organise, and coordinate MSC outreach and engagement initiatives, including MSC Talks.
- Provide emotional support and basic helping interventions through phone and face-to-face engagements, within the scope of the role.
- Assess clients' needs and facilitate referrals and linkages to relevant social service agencies and community resources.
- Support the enhancement and development of MSC's services through collaboration with partners, stakeholders, and community networks.
- Maintain accurate client records and prepare timely monthly and quarterly reports, statistics, and documentation.
- Conduct research and evaluate service outcomes to identify opportunities for programme improvement and growth.
- Represent MSC at fundraising, outreach, and awareness-building initiatives, including engagements on financial abuse and MSC's mission.
- Support SCWO-wide events, projects, and organisational initiatives as required.
Volunteer Coordination
- Coordinate and support volunteer lawyers and law students to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of MSC's legal clinics.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers regarding clinic schedules, programme updates, and engagement opportunities.
- Support volunteer onboarding, orientation, and appreciation initiatives.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and participation data.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a relevant field.
- Fresh graduates may apply but candidates with relevant working experience will have an advantage.
- Open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents only.
Technical Competencies:
- Good communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple programmes, projects and operational responsibilities.
- Able to maintain accurate records, statistics and other required documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and common workplace applications.
