About the Role

We design and deliver software for smart manufacturing, including:

  • Production planning and execution: Computer-Aided Process Planning (CAPP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Industrial telemetry: Real-time collection and aggregation of data from CNC machines, robots and sensors.
  • 3D Digital Twin: Unreal Engine 5 applications that visualise factory shopfloors in real time.
  • Factory dashboards: Production monitoring, analytics and factory management tools.
  • Mobile Digital Twin: A cloud-based iOS and Android app that lets customers monitor their factories remotely. It received the 2025 SICC Most Scalable Collaboration award.

Our stack includes C#/ASP/.NET, C/C++, SQL Server and MySQL on Windows and Linux, together with web, mobile and Unreal Engine technologies. Components communicate and are deployed using MQTT, gRPC, REST and Docker.

As a backend engineer, you will build, improve and maintain software across a selection of our products, covering existing products, customised project versions, system integrations and new AI-enabled features. Your initial assignments will be discussed during the hiring process, based on your background, interests and project needs, and your scope will grow as projects evolve. You do not need experience with every product or technology above. We expect you to deliver well-defined components independently, with guidance from senior engineers on unfamiliar systems and broader architecture.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain backend components and services, including customised implementations for client projects.
  • Turn requirements into component designs and test cases, anticipating real-world edge cases, failure scenarios and integration impacts.
  • Integrate your work with components built by teammates and investigate issues that span multiple systems.
  • Test, debug and review code, and help resolve problems affecting existing and new customers.
  • Join technical and project discussions, explain your design decisions, and flag risks or blockers early.
  • Keep clear documentation on designs, interfaces, tests, deployment and support procedures.
  • Explore new technologies, contribute to AI-enabled development and product features, and share what you learn with the team.

What You Bring

  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience, with solid skills in C++ and/or C#/.NET and experience working in existing codebases. Familiarity with C++11/14 is especially relevant; later standards are also welcome.
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented design, core data structures and algorithms, design patterns and SOLID principles, and the ability to explain your design choices and trade-offs.
  • Familiarity with the full software lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • Experience converting requirements into module designs and test cases, including edge cases and failure scenarios.
  • Sound understanding of concurrency, shared state, race conditions, synchronisation and resource management.
  • A systematic approach to debugging, the ability to understand unfamiliar code, and care in preserving existing behaviour when making changes.
  • Working knowledge of Git (branching, merging, resolving straightforward conflicts) and SQL (queries, joins, basic data updates).
  • Industrial systems: CAPP, MES, CNC controllers, robotics, AGVs/AMRs, automated production workflows, OPC UA or MTConnect.
  • Data and AI: Time-series data, signal processing, computer vision, applied machine learning, Python, LLM applications, agentic workflows, MCP, RAG or model deployment.
  • Backend and infrastructure: Database design, network protocols, security, Linux, shell scripting, Docker, Jenkins, CI/CD, or Azure/AWS deployment.
  • Other technologies: Web development, React, ASP.NET Framework and .NET Core, mobile development or Unreal Engine. If interested, please submit your application to [email protected] with your expected salary and resume. We regret that only short-listed candidates will be contacted shortly. By submitting your application or resume, you agree to the collection, use, retention, and sharing of your personal information with potential employers for their assessment. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
