About Our Client

We are partnering with a leading international engineering and design consultancy to appoint a Technical Director, Mechanical for its Singapore business. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving technical excellence, leading multidisciplinary project teams, and working closely with major clients on high-value engineering developments.

Job Description

  • Provide overall technical leadership for mechanical engineering design across data centre, mission-critical and complex building projects.
  • Lead the design and engineering of critical mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure and associated building services.
  • Oversee projects throughout the design lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction support and commissioning coordination.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet project requirements relating to reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, operational performance and applicable regulations.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor to clients, developers, contractors and project stakeholders, providing practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical and other building systems.
  • Review engineering designs, specifications and technical submissions to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Support business development activities, including technical proposals, tender submissions and client presentations.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, developing technical capabilities and strengthening overall project delivery standards.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce innovative, sustainable and cost-effective engineering solutions.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical building services design, ideally gained within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Strong experience in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects, particularly mechanical cooling systems and HVAC design.
  • Solid understanding of data centre design principles, including system resilience, redundancy, energy efficiency and critical cooling requirements.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale, technically complex engineering projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng/CPEng) or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to engage confidently with senior clients and provide strategic technical advice.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience supporting proposals, project planning and business
