Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of firestop systems for building services penetrations and joints.
- Review architectural, structural, and M&E drawings to identify fire-rated walls, floors, ceilings, penetrations, and joints requiring firestop protection.
- Select and recommend suitable firestop systems and materials based on project specifications, approved systems, substrate types, penetration types, and fire-rating requirements.
- Conduct site inspections to verify that firestop installations comply with approved drawings, manufacturer requirements, project specifications, and applicable fire safety standards.
- Inspect firestop installations around cables, cable trays, pipes, ducts, conduits, sleeves, and other building service penetrations.
- Identify installation defects, non-conformities, and potential fire safety risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with project engineers, consultants, contractors, M&E teams, and firestop manufacturers to resolve technical issues and installation challenges.
- Provide technical guidance to site teams and installers on correct firestop installation methods, product application, and system requirements.
- Review and maintain technical documentation, including product data sheets, test reports, installation details, method statements, inspection records, and firestop system approvals.
- Assist in preparing firestop inspection checklists, reports, technical submissions, and as-built documentation.
- Monitor firestop works to ensure compliance with project quality requirements, approved tested systems, and relevant codes and standards.
- Support site testing, mock-ups, inspections, and demonstrations where required by the project or relevant authorities.
- Investigate firestop-related technical issues and assist in determining root causes and appropriate corrective measures.
- Coordinate material requirements, product availability, and technical information with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Promote good fire safety practices and ensure that firestop works are carried out in accordance with workplace safety and project requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of firestop installation methods, quality control procedures, and inspection processes.
