Technical Superintendent – Landing Craft
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent with strong experience managing Landing Craft, barges or similar work vessels. The role will be responsible for the technical management, maintenance, reliability and regulatory compliance of the assigned fleet, ensuring vessels remain safe, seaworthy and operationally ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day technical operations and maintenance of assigned Landing Craft vessels.
- Ensure vessels are maintained in a safe, reliable and seaworthy condition in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, including machinery, propulsion systems, electrical systems, deck equipment and other critical onboard systems.
- Coordinate and monitor vessel dry-docking, repairs, surveys, inspections and refurbishment projects from planning through completion.
- Liaise closely with Masters, Chief Engineers and vessel crews to identify technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor vessel performance, machinery reliability, fuel consumption and maintenance costs, and implement measures to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, Port State Control, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and other applicable maritime regulations.
- Coordinate with classification societies, flag authorities, shipyards, repair contractors, suppliers and service engineers.
- Prepare technical specifications, repair scopes and quotations, and evaluate vendors and contractors based on quality, cost and turnaround time.
- Manage the technical budget for assigned vessels and monitor maintenance expenditure against approved budgets.
- Investigate machinery failures, technical defects, incidents and breakdowns, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate technical records, maintenance reports, survey documentation and vessel certificates.
- Provide technical support for vessel mobilisation, charter requirements, cargo operations and deployment to offshore or regional locations.
- Conduct regular vessel visits and inspections to ensure maintenance standards, crew performance and vessel condition are properly maintained.
- Provide regular technical and maintenance updates to senior management and recommend improvements to fleet reliability and operational readiness.
Requirements
- Current or previous Navy personal are highly encouraged to apply
- Diploma/Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Studies or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent, Fleet Engineer or equivalent shore-based technical role.
- Strong knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, electrical systems and deck equipment.
- Experience managing dry-docking, ship repairs, surveys and vessel maintenance projects.
- Good understanding of Class, Flag State, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and Port State requirements.
- Strong vendor management, budgeting, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Willingness to travel to vessels, shipyards, ports and offshore locations as required.
- Experience with Singapore and Southeast Asian maritime operations would be an advantage.
