MainPurpose:
The Operations team, which runs the logistics in our firm, is at the heart of our business. The role of an operator is techno-commercial in nature which requiresan individual to apply their technical knowledge to understand and maximize the P&L for the trader. It requires the operator to be constantly aware of market intelligence, to seek information which is commercially important and act on it promptly in consultation with the trader. It is a progressive role which requires multi dimensional understanding of different fields of knowledge like: Contracts, Documentation, product specifications, operations, international law, industry regulation, shipping, claims amongst others.
Operators play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all trade operational aspects of the organization. This role requires a blend of planning, meticulous execution, and team person to perform business operations and to enhance operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Optimize the deal P&L through efficient voyage planning.
- Streamline operational workflows to enhance efficiency and minimize operational errors.
- Do the entire supply chain process from sourcing to delivery of oil and pet-chem products cargo, payments and demurrage (including but not limitedto below)
- Check and comment on terms of deal recap.
- Preparation and execution of sales contracts and GTCs.
- Adhering to all critical nominationdates
- Assist the chartering team with vessel clearance, post fixture optimization of tankers and lodging / settling demurrage claims.
- Basic understanding of the Trade finance and credit terms associated with the deal and familiar to do documentation post completion
- Prov/Final price approvals and settlements i.e. payments TT
- Hands-onto Aspect or similar software
- Work with traders, charterers and asset functions to seamlessly integrate theoperations.
- Negotiating and finalizing contracts post deals and evaluating contract performances to ensure contractual obligations.
- Assess operational risks, suggest controls and advise procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, asset personnel.
- Foster a culture of growth, accountability, and teamwork.
Skills & Competencies:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience of operations in oil/pet-chem business company.
- Graduate, degree in engineering or supply chain is desirable.
- Knowledge of trade agreements and industry standards related to oil/chems trading.
- Strong understanding of supply chain, logistics and procurement processes.
- Pro-activeand good problem-solving skills. Ability to identify potential supply chainissues and propose relevant solutions.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, word, and power point.
- Speaking knowledge of regional language will be an added advantage.
