What you'll do:

As a Vice President Senior Currency Analyst based in Singapore, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality economic research that shapes strategic decisions for both internal stakeholders and external clients worldwide. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve producing detailed analyses of ASEAN economies—especially focusing on India (INR), Vietnam (VND), and the Philippines (PHP)—and generating regular publications that keep clients informed about market developments. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple regions to contribute to global research pipelines while also engaging directly with customers through various channels such as seminars or webinars. Success in this role requires not only technical expertise but also excellent communication skills for presenting complex information clearly. Your ability to build strong relationships internally and externally will be crucial as you help drive customer satisfaction through insightful analysis.

  • Produce comprehensive research reports on ASEAN economic trends and foreign exchange rates with a particular focus on INR, VND, and PHP currencies.
  • Contribute regularly to daily FX updates, weekly market reviews, and quarterly outlooks as part of the Asia Global Market Research team.
  • Develop in-depth thematic studies and ad-hoc commentary on economic data releases, policy changes, market events, and currency movements relevant to Southeast Asia.
  • Create and maintain robust quantitative models for economic indicators and foreign exchange forecasting to support research outputs.
  • Participate actively in regional and global research initiatives by collaborating with colleagues in Tokyo, London, New York, and other key locations.
  • Engage with clients through conference calls, seminars, webinars, company visits, and business trips to present research findings and address queries.
  • Build effective partnerships with sales teams, traders, relationship managers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely responses to market-related questions.
  • Support junior team members by providing coaching, guidance, and sharing best practices within the Asia GMR team.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, risk controls, and dual-entity guidelines as required by the functional arrangement.
  • Assist in managing the department’s risk profile by adhering strictly to compliance standards and supporting operational excellence.

What you bring:

To excel as a Vice President Senior Currency Analyst in Singapore you will bring substantial experience from previous roles where you have delivered high-quality economic or FX research within major financial institutions or consultancies. Your background should include advanced academic training—ideally at postgraduate level—in economics or finance coupled with hands-on expertise in both qualitative assessment techniques (such as policy analysis) and quantitative methods (including econometric modelling). You are adept at distilling complex macroeconomic trends into actionable insights for diverse audiences ranging from senior executives to institutional investors. Strong interpersonal skills; you thrive when collaborating across functions or mentoring less experienced colleagues. A deep understanding of compliance requirements—particularly those associated with multi-entity operations—is essential given the dual-hat nature of this role. Above all else your commitment to accuracy integrity teamwork continuous learning sets you apart as an invaluable member of any high-performing research function.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Global markets working in Singapore or any other regional market.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least eight years in economic or foreign exchange research within financial services or related sectors is essential for this position.
  • Proven experience building robust models for economic indicators or FX forecasting supports data-driven decision-making within the team
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in economics, finance or another relevant discipline provides the necessary academic foundation for success.
  • Proven ability to conduct both qualitative assessments and quantitative analyses when tackling complex economic issues is vital for producing impactful research outputs.
  • Strong presentation abilities enable you to communicate findings effectively during seminars, webinars or client meetings across different regions.
  • A collaborative approach is important as you will work closely with colleagues from various departments such as sales or trading as well as mentor junior staff members.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing financial institutions ensures compliance with all relevant laws including those specific to dual-entity arrangements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills allow you to develop productive relationships both internally within the organisation and externally with global corporate clients.
