Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our workshop, ensuring that repair and maintenance work is carried out efficiently, safely and to quality standards. The role involves leading a team of technicians/fitters, managing workflow and resources, and ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Operations

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily workshop activities including machining, assembly, repair and equipment servicing of rotating machinery, motors, generators and other electrical equipment.
  • Allocate manpower, tools and resources efficiently to meet job deadlines.
  • Monitor job progress and ensure work is completed according to customer requirement and quality standards.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on the shop floor and provide hands-on guidance when required.

Team Management

  • Supervise, train, and mentor workshop technicians, fitters.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and coordinate on-the-job training.
  • Manage manpower scheduling, attendance and overtime arrangements.
  • Enforce workshop discipline, productivity standards, and adherence to SOPs.

Safety &Compliance

  • Ensure strict compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular workshop safety inspections/audits.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of machinery, tools, and hazardous materials.
  • Investigate and report workshop incidents/accidents; implement corrective and preventive actions.

Quality &Equipment Management

  • Ensure all work performed meets company quality standards and client specifications; conduct quality checks/inspections before job close-out.
  • Oversee maintenance, calibration, and proper upkeep of workshop machinery, tools, and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables; coordinate replenishment with procurement.

Reporting &Documentation

  • Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and workshop documentation.
  • Support cost control by monitoring labor hours, material usage, and job efficiency.
