Responsibilities
- Assist WSHO & ECO in implementing and maintaining the health, safety, and environmental management system
- Inspect and monitor construction operations to ensure safe execution within assigned areas
- Promote safe conduct of work across the site to maintain a secure working environment
- Liaise with sub-contractors’ site supervisors and WSH Coordinators to ensure health and safety compliance for subcontracted work
- Ensure all workers and staff are equipped with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for their tasks
- Assist in conducting risk assessments, safe work procedures, method statements, and briefing site personnel accordingly
- Assist in organizing and conducting mass toolbox meetings to communicate safety information
- Inspect, monitor, and verify that all statutory equipment have valid certification and are in good working condition
- Ensure all lifting gear, machines, and appliances comply with monthly color coding requirements
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of all necessary safety and statutory documents
- Assist in providing and maintaining adequate first aid facilities and sufficient safety equipment on site
- Conduct HSE induction courses for new employees and sub-contractors and organize site safety promotions
- Assist WSHO in collecting information and preparing statutory and site safety reports
- Take charge during accidents by organizing treatment, evacuation, notifying emergency services, and informing project management
- Collaborate closely with the construction team to enforce safe working practices and promptly address unsafe conditions or practices
- Recommend disciplinary actions to WSHO when necessary to enforce HSE regulations and procedures
Required competencies and certifications
- Hold an Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B)
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the marine/construction field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Willingness to work 6 days per week at the project site office
