Boys' Town is a non-profit social service agency in Singapore dedicated to supporting children and youth in need. Founded in 1948 by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, Boys' Town began as a residential home for boys affected by the war and has since expanded to provide a continuum of services for children and youth in need.
Today, Boys' Town serves both boys and girls, from infants to young adults, many from disadvantaged or disengaged families who have experienced challenges such as neglect, abandonment, or abuse. Boys' Town provides holistic and integrated services including residential care, fostering services, respite care, youth outreach, adventure-based therapy, and clinical intervention.
As an organisation, Boys' Town is committed to meaningful social impact and professional practice. Staff work within multi-disciplinary teams of trained professionals, united by a shared purpose of making a positive impact in the lives of children and youth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be attentive and look into the wellbeing of residents by being available and to be accountable for the residents' whereabouts
when on duty.
To provide close supervision and maintain discipline of the residents in accordance with the daily programme.
To motivate and actively engage residents to participate in the BT/daily programme (eg. sports, value-add programmes, incentives)
To support and facilitate programmes related to residents.
To engage and develop positive relationship with residents.
To support in developing positive characteristics and personalities of residents.
To be able to engage residents in both small and large group settings.
To provide emotional support to residents should the need arises.
To promote a safe and positive living environment/culture in residents through the day-to-day interactions.
To manage residents' behaviour and infringements in a positive and nurturing manner.
To provide support and high quality of care to residents.
To ensure professional collaborative work with colleagues from Residential Services.
To ensure a consistent approach in caring for the residents.
To monitor unwell residents' condition on a regular basis.
To conduct frequent hourly (minimum) checks on the residents after lights off and take attendance.
To conduct morning rising for residents and ensure that residents leave for school on time.
To carry out any administrative work (timely and accurate event as in Duty Officer's reports)
To ensure that the Operations Centre is operational and ready for the next Duty Officer e.g. charging of Duty Officer's handphone,
general housekeeping etc.
To conduct face-to-face briefing with the next Duty Officer during the process of handling over duty.
To maintain the discipline of the boys in consultation with the Executive Director, the Head - Residential Services, and other members
of senior management.
To participate actively and take ownership of primary/secondary portfolios assigned by Head, Residential Services.
To work in close collaboration with the other staff of the Home and of the other components of Boys' Town in matters pertaining to
the welfare of the residents.
To support in implementing the relevant model of care/ services in accordance with the needs and profile of the residents
Supervision skills
Administrative - documentation and filing
Basic counselling, Mentoring and Role modelling skills and understanding of human behaviors
Experience in working with youths with an understanding of youth psychology
Mentoring and Coaching Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
GCE O, A, Diploma or higher.
NITEC +> 2years.
