Job Overview

We are seeking a KNX Programmer to design, configure, programme, test and commission KNX building automation systems. The role involves delivering integrated solutions for lighting control, HVAC, shading, energy management, access control and other smart building applications in accordance with project requirements, technical specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and programme KNX systems using ETS software in line with project specifications and control strategies.
  • Configure KNX devices, actuators, sensors, switches, gateways, interfaces and visualisation systems.
  • Develop group addresses, communication objects, scenes, schedules, logic functions and user interfaces.
  • Integrate KNX with HVAC, lighting, blinds, energy management, security, audio-visual and building management systems.
  • Review drawings, schematics, equipment schedules and control narratives to identify programming and integration requirements.
  • Coordinate with design, electrical, MEP, commissioning, installation and project teams.
  • Carry out testing, fault diagnosis, system commissioning and functional performance checks.
  • Attend site visits to inspect installations, complete programming activities and support commissioning works.
  • Prepare and maintain ETS project files, device databases, programming documentation, test sheets and as-built records.
  • Investigate communication faults, wiring issues, addressing errors and device configuration problems.
  • Provide technical support, user training and handover information to clients and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with project requirements, health and safety procedures, quality standards and relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Automation, Controls Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a KNX Programmer, KNX Engineer, Building Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer or similar role.
  • Practical experience using ETS software to programme, configure and commission KNX systems.
  • Knowledge of KNX topology, bus devices, group addresses, communication objects, telegrams and system diagnostics.
  • Experience integrating KNX with HVAC, lighting control, shading, energy management or building management systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and control documentation.
  • Understanding of IP networks, KNX IP interfaces, routers and common building automation communication protocols.
  • KNX certification or formal KNX training is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently, manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communication, coordination and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work outside normal hours when required for commissioning.
