Job Description: Enterprise Cloud Architect

Job Summary

Responsible for designing and guiding enterprise technology architecture, with a focus on cloud-enabled enterprise applications, SAP S/4HANA, master data governance, application integration, and enterprise data solutions. Translate business and technology requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solution architectures aligned with enterprise architecture principles and organizational objectives.

Lead architecture definition, solution design, technology assessments, integration strategy, and technical governance across enterprise transformation initiatives. Collaborate with enterprise architects, cloud infrastructure teams, application development teams, cybersecurity, business stakeholders, and project management to ensure that enterprise applications and cloud-enabled solutions meet business, technical, security, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Enterprise Architecture and Technology Strategy

  • Define and maintain enterprise application and solution architecture aligned with business objectives, technology strategy, and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Translate business requirements into target-state architectures, solution blueprints, technology roadmaps, and implementation strategies.
  • Evaluate technology options and recommend appropriate application platforms, integration patterns, and cloud-enabled solutions.
  • Conduct architecture assessments, identify technical dependencies and risks, and recommend solutions that support scalability, maintainability, and reusability.
  • Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and technical decision-making to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

2. Cloud-Enabled Application Architecture

  • Design enterprise application solutions leveraging cloud platforms and cloud-enabled integration services.
  • Define application architecture and integration requirements for SAP S/4HANA, SAP Master Data Governance, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and related enterprise systems.
  • Assess opportunities to leverage cloud services to improve application integration, data exchange, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Define application-to-cloud integration requirements and collaborate with cloud infrastructure and platform teams to validate hosting, connectivity, availability, and operational dependencies.
  • Contribute to cloud adoption roadmaps, architecture assessments, and the evolution of enterprise applications toward appropriate cloud-enabled architectures.

3. SAP Enterprise Solution Architecture

  • Lead end-to-end solution architecture for SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP Master Data Governance implementations and transformation programs.
  • Define application data models, master data governance processes, workflows, business rules, validations, derivations, and data replication strategies.
  • Design solutions for Business Partner, Supplier, Customer, Material, and Finance master data domains.
  • Ensure that SAP application designs align with enterprise architecture principles, SAP best practices, business requirements, and global process standards.
  • Review functional and technical design documents and provide architectural guidance to functional consultants, developers, and implementation teams.

4. Integration and Data Architecture

  • Define end-to-end integration architecture between SAP applications, cloud-enabled platforms, middleware, and external enterprise applications.
  • Design integration patterns using APIs, web services, IDocs, RFCs, and enterprise integration platforms.
  • Provide architecture guidance for SAP BTP Integration Suite and associated integration technologies.
  • Define interface requirements, data mappings, error-handling mechanisms, monitoring requirements, and data reconciliation approaches.
  • Ensure consistency, integrity, security, and reliability of data exchanged across enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate with integration and platform teams to resolve cross-system architectural issues and integration risks.

5. Technical Governance and Architecture Assurance

  • Lead solution design reviews and evaluate technical proposals against enterprise architecture standards and design principles.
  • Review functional specifications, technical designs, interface designs, and implementation approaches.
  • Identify architectural risks, technology constraints, dependencies, and opportunities for standardization.
  • Establish reusable design patterns, technical guidelines, and architecture documentation.
  • Work with enterprise architecture and security teams to incorporate applicable security, compliance, performance, and operational requirements into solution designs.

6. Data Governance and Enterprise Transformation

  • Define architecture approaches for enterprise master data governance, data quality, data replication, and data management.
  • Lead data migration architecture and planning for SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, including mapping, transformation, validation, mock loads, and cutover.
  • Coordinate with business, data, and technology teams to establish data quality controls and migration validation processes.
  • Ensure that master data solutions support global business processes, data consistency, and downstream application requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data management, application interoperability, and enterprise information quality.

7. Technical Leadership and Delivery Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to functional, development, integration, and data migration teams.
  • Coordinate architecture activities across business stakeholders, enterprise architects, cloud platform teams, and implementation partners.
  • Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, design assessments, and solution reviews.
  • Oversee technical quality across application design, development, integration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Support testing strategy, defect resolution, release planning, cutover, production readiness, and transition to application support.
  • Mentor technical team members and promote consistent engineering and solution design practices.

8. Stakeholder Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with business leaders, global process owners, project managers, enterprise architects, and technology teams to align solutions with business priorities.
  • Communicate architecture decisions, technical risks, dependencies, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Assess emerging enterprise and cloud technologies and identify opportunities to improve application capabilities and integration.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, technical standards, design decisions, and technology roadmaps.
  • Promote continuous improvement, reuse, simplification, and sustainable enterprise technology solutions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in enterprise application architecture, SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, and enterprise technology transformation.
  • Strong experience designing end-to-end enterprise application and integration solutions.
  • Experience in solution architecture, application design, technical governance, and architecture review processes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-enabled enterprise applications, integration architecture, and cloud platform concepts.
  • Experience in SAP Master Data Governance, enterprise data management, and master data migration.
  • Experience collaborating with cloud infrastructure, integration, security, development, and business teams.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
