Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is an internationally renowned tertiary education institution. It has a strong engineering college and is ranked among the best globally. Committed to our mission of educating leaders and advancing knowledge for Singapore and beyond, we have built global programmes and established strong links with leading institutions around the world.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is under the College of Engineering, aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. Currently, it has over 50 faculty members and more than 1,500 students, and is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. The School offers the following three programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and maritime Studies. The faculty in the School has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water research and sustainable built environment. Going forward, the School seeks to strengthen its research and education capabilities in maritime studies, supported by the MPA Professorship in Shipping Management, with emphasis on maritime economics and policy, shipping management, and maritime digitalisation and sustainability.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites outstanding faculty to apply for the position of Visiting Professor in Maritime Studies.

The successful appointee will advance CEE’s research and teaching in maritime studies related areas, including maritime economics and policy, shipping management and logistics, and maritime digitalisation and sustainability.

The successful appointee will be expected to:

  • Deliver the MPA Professorship Public Lecture and conduct seminars for research students and industry practitioners.
  • Engage CEE faculty and research staff on research collaboration, including joint publications, international conferences and research proposals, in areas such as port competitiveness and efficiency, maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation, and maritime policies and practices.
  • Interact with postgraduate research students, offering guidance on research design, methodology and academic publishing.
  • Meet the School’s Management Committee and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to share perspectives on global maritime industry developments, advise on curriculum alignment with industry trends, and identify initiatives that strengthen collaboration between NTU and MPA.

The MPA Professorship in Shipping Management enables the School to bring distinguished international scholars to NTU to strengthen its Maritime Studies programme.

Visiting Professor appointments are extended to distinguished professors or researchers with recognised expertise and strong collaborative ties with the School.

Candidates are expected to

  • Possess a strong track record in maritime economics, policy and management, demonstrated by impactful publications, high citation metrics, and international recognition.
  • Demonstrate leadership in major research programmes and foster cross-institutional and international collaborations, particularly in areas of strategic importance to the School.
  • Show evidence of excellence in postgraduate education through supervision, mentorship, and the development of advanced-level teaching modules.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the School’s academic mission through joint research, student supervision, curriculum innovation, and international outreach.

A complete application should include:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
