The posting

The NCCS Division of Medical Oncology is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our research team as a Research Coordinator.

The Research Coordinator will support a portfolio of gastrointestinal (GI) oncology, supportive care, and health services research projects within the Division. Current initiatives include the STRONG (Supportive Care, Integrated Treatment, And Rehabilitation to Improve Outcomes in Gastrointestinal Cancer) programme, a multidisciplinary supportive care programme for patients with GI cancers; a clinical study evaluating an intervention to alleviate chemotherapy-related nausea; and an infectious disease research study involving qualitative interviews.

Working closely with Principal Investigators, clinicians, and research collaborators, the incumbent will coordinate and manage research projects, including participant recruitment, study coordination, ethics and regulatory submissions, maintenance of research documentation and logs, data collection, and project administration. The role also involves patient-facing responsibilities, including patient navigation and care coordination, as well as qualitative research activities such as conducting in-depth interviews, qualitative coding, thematic analysis, and dissemination of research findings. The incumbent may also support other research initiatives within the Division as required

Key Duties:

  1. Research Study Coordination and Management
  • Coordinate the day-to-day conduct of assigned research projects from study start-up to completion.
  • Recruit, screen and consent study participants according to approved study protocols.
  • Coordinate study visits, assessments, data collection activities, interviews, and participant follow-up.
  • Prepare and manage IRB submissions, amendments, annual renewals, and study closure documents.
  • Maintain study databases, recruitment logs, screening logs, regulatory files, and other essential study documentation.
  • Support the collection, extraction, collation, and management of large‑scale retrospective and prospective datasets relevant to research studies.
  • Liaise with investigators, clinical teams, participants, and external stakeholders to facilitate study conduct and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  1. Qualitative Research
  • Conduct in-depth and semi-structured interviews with patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing interview guides and qualitative study materials.
  • Perform transcription, coding, and organisation of qualitative data.
  • Conduct thematic analysis and support interpretation of findings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.
  1. Patient Navigation and Programme Support
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of participants into STRONG programme.
  • Administer questionnaires, functional assessments, and patient-reported outcome measures.
  • Assist patients in navigating appointments, referrals, and available support services.
  • Respond to patients’ queries (in person and through communication platforms) including but not limited to clarifications on appointments, health coaching, and directing clinical queries to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support programme implementation and continuity of care.
  1. Administrative work and others
  • Input all assessment data and patient communications into Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM).
  • Maintain and update the research databases with relevant information such as patient’s demographics, referrals, assessment results, patient’s progress, etc.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Life Sciences or a related health‑science field (or equivalent).
  • Prior patient‑facing experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Some qualitative research skills and experience, including at least some experience with conducting in-depth interviews, and/or thematic analysis and interest in learning how to conduct research in cancer care.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken) and Mandarin (spoken).
  • Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English.
  • Experience of successfully managing multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Motivated, patient‑centric, and able to engage various stakeholders (patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals).
  • Able to work independently with initiative.
  • Comfortable with web‑based tools and communication applications (e.g., WhatsApp, FormSG).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
