Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS). Research Fellow (Health Technology Assessment)

About the Position The Centre for Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research (HIPER) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS, is seeking a Research Fellow to join its Health Technology Assessment (HIPER-HTA) team.

The successful candidate will primarily contribute to a research project evaluating the clinical and economic value of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests. The project involves evidence synthesis, stakeholder consultations, health economic modelling, and the development of research reports to inform healthcare decision-making.

In addition to the MCED project, the candidate will contribute to other HTA and HTA-related research activities, supporting healthcare policy and decision-making in Singapore and the region.

Key Responsibilities 1. Multi-Cancer Early Detection (MCED) Economic Evaluation • Conduct literature reviews, systematic reviews, and evidence synthesis of clinical and economic evidence related to MCED tests. • Perform meta-analyses, where appropriate, to synthesise clinical evidence and inform economic evaluation. • Plan and conduct stakeholder consultations to gather relevant clinical, economic, and implementation-related insights. • Develop and apply health economic models to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and potential implications of MCED tests. • Analyse and interpret research findings and prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and other research outputs.

2. Other HTA and Related Research Activities • Contribute to other HTA and HTA-related research projects, including but not limited to: • Conducting primary research to support HTA and health economic evaluation. • Performing horizon scanning and early HTA of emerging health technologies. • Conducting critical appraisals of HTA studies, clinical evidence, and economic evaluations. • Supporting other evidence synthesis, economic modelling, and health policy research activities. • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and other relevant partners. • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through academic publications, technical reports, presentations, and capacity-building activities.

Preferred Skills and Experience Applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: • Health Economic Modelling: Experience developing or applying decision-analytic models, including decision trees, Markov models, or microsimulation models. • Evidence Synthesis: Experience conducting systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and critical appraisals of clinical or economic evidence. • HTA and Economic Evaluation: Familiarity with cost-effectiveness analysis, HTA frameworks, and healthcare decision-making. • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analytical software such as R, Stata, Excel, or similar tools. • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience conducting stakeholder consultations, interviews, or qualitative research. • Cancer Modelling: Prior experience in cancer-related economic modelling or screening evaluation would be an advantage but is not essential.

What We Offer A dynamic and collaborative research environment with opportunities for professional development, multidisciplinary collaboration, and engagement in policy-relevant HTA research.

Appointment Duration The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, subject to satisfactory performance and project requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Core Requirements • A PhD in Health Economics, Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Pharmacy, Health Services Research, or a related discipline. • Demonstrated research experience in health technology assessment, health economics, economic evaluation, evidence synthesis, or related areas. • Strong quantitative research and analytical skills. • Ability to conduct research independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. • Good scientific writing, communication, and project management skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
