What you’ll be responsible for each day:

Do you want to play a key role in the success of large-scale industrial capital programs valued at $1 billion or more? We are looking for a planning and scheduling expert to take hands-on ownership of the development, integration, monitoring, and reporting of schedules for major EPC, EPCM, and owner-managed programs.

You will be involved at every stage of the project lifecycle, from concept development, feasibility studies, FEL, and FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and handover to operations. As a true partner to leadership, you will turn complex project controls data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making.

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and control Level 1 to 5 schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM) best practices.
  • Establish and enforce planning and scheduling standards, methodologies, and governance processes.
  • Analyze the critical path, near-critical paths, constraints, float, and execution risks.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary planning workshops with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Establish baseline schedules based on industry standards and historical program performance.

Integrated Program Planning

  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for multi-project capital programs.
  • Integrate contractor, EPC firm, and workstream schedules into a single program-level view.
  • Coordinate the sequencing of engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, operational readiness, and start-up.
  • Manage interfaces and dependencies across projects and contractors and support investment planning and portfolio prioritization.

Resources, Progress, and Earned Value

  • Develop resource-loaded schedules, workforce forecasts, histograms, workforce curves, and capacity models.
  • Identify constraints and peak periods, analyze productivity, and recommend resource optimization and leveling strategies.
  • Implement physical progress measurement systems, including rules of credit for all project phases, and validate contractor progress reports.
  • Develop and monitor S-curves, forecast curves, and key performance indicator (KPI) dashboards.
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM), including PV, EV, AC, SPI, and CPI, and forecast project completion dates.
  • Perform scenario analyses, develop recovery and acceleration plans, and support contingency management and forecasting.

Schedule Risk Management

  • Facilitate schedule risk identification and mitigation workshops.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and monitor confidence levels and recovery actions.

Executive Reporting

  • Create high-impact presentations for senior leadership, steering committees, investment committees, capital approval committees, and project review boards.
  • Build dashboards, visual analytics, and management reports, including monthly project controls reports.
  • Present schedule performance, risks, forecasts, and recovery plans to senior stakeholders.

Contractor and EPC Firm Management

  • Review, challenge, and approve EPC firm and contractor schedules, and conduct quality and compliance reviews.
  • Validate contractor progress reports and forecast assumptions.
  • Lead schedule coordination meetings and assess the impact of scope changes.
  • Support contract administration, claims analysis, and contractor performance evaluations.

The individual who will own this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • A master’s degree or equivalent advanced professional qualification is an asset.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 15 years of project planning and scheduling experience, including at least 10 years supporting large industrial EPC/EPCM projects.
  • Demonstrated experience on capital projects valued from $500 million to over $5 billion.
  • Proven experience developing and managing integrated schedules, from development phases (PEA, PFS, FS) through delivery (engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up).
  • Experience leading planning activities within mature project controls organizations.
  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors: oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, mining and metals, power generation, energy, infrastructure, heavy industrial manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or dairy processing.
  • Experience supporting expansion, brownfield or greenfield, transformation, packaging, utilities, or manufacturing transformation projects in the dairy or food sector.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 Professional and P6 EPPM.
  • Expertise in Critical Path Method (CPM), Integrated Master Scheduling (IMS), resource loading and capacity planning, progress measurement, Earned Value Management (EVM), schedule risk analysis, S-curves and forecasting, and recovery and acceleration plans.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, data analysis, dashboards, and resource forecasting models).
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint (presentations for senior leadership, steering committees, and investment approvals), Word, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to plan and control multi-billion-dollar capital programs.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence EPC firms and project teams.
  • Excellent presentation preparation and delivery skills.
  • Analytical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of rigor regarding schedule integrity.
  • Comfort facilitating complex planning workshops.
  • Strong focus on supporting decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a highly matrixed organization.

An environment that values engagement and encourages everyone to take initiative.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
