High Plainz Strains is hiring a full-time Front Desk Associate for our Fort Lupton dispensary!

The front desk is the first point of contact for customers entering the store and an important part of keeping the dispensary operating safely and efficiently. This position is responsible for greeting customers, verifying identification, assisting with online orders and helping maintain an organized front entrance and retail environment.

Previous cannabis experience is not required. Customer service, retail, hospitality, reception or other public-facing experience is helpful, but we're willing to train someone who communicates well, pays attention to details and can be trusted to follow procedures consistently.

For someone interested in working in cannabis retail, this is also a good place to learn how a dispensary operates and begin developing the knowledge and experience needed to take on additional retail responsibilities over time.

What you'll be doing

The front desk controls the first part of the customer experience. You'll interact with customers throughout the day while also handling tasks that are important to the store's compliance and daily operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting customers as they enter the dispensary
  • Checking identification and following required entry procedures
  • Answering basic customer questions and directing customers appropriately
  • Answering and routing incoming phone calls
  • Helping process and verify online orders
  • Making sure online orders are complete and accurate before they reach the customer
  • Learning our products and helping customers with basic product questions
  • Supporting the budtending team during busy periods
  • Keeping the front desk, lobby and customer areas clean and organized
  • Following company procedures and Colorado cannabis regulations
  • Communicating problems or unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor
  • Helping with other retail tasks as needed during the shift

ID verification is a significant responsibility in this position. The person working the front desk needs to be comfortable following the same verification procedures every time, even when the store is busy.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, generally scheduled around 35 hours per week.

Our Fort Lupton dispensary operates seven days a week between 8:00am and 10:00pm, so applicants need availability for a retail schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Schedules are posted in advance according to store needs.

Pay and tips

Base pay: $15.16 per hour

Front Desk employees also receive 10% of the tips earned by the budtenders working during their shift.

Tips vary based on customer traffic, staffing, shift and other factors.

What we're looking for

This is an entry-level cannabis retail position, but the front desk carries real responsibility.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable talking with customers and can remain professional when the store gets busy. Attention to detail is particularly important because checking identification and handling customer information correctly are part of the job.

You should be able to manage several things happening at once without losing track of the details. You also need to be comfortable asking a supervisor for help when something doesn't look right rather than guessing.

Experience in retail, restaurants, hospitality, reception, customer service or other public-facing work can translate well to this position.

Cannabis product knowledge is useful, but it isn't required. We have experienced employees who can teach you about the products we carry and how our stores operate.

You also don't need to make cannabis your entire personality to work here. You do need to enjoy working with people, be comfortable in a cannabis retail environment and take the responsibilities of a regulated business seriously.

Colorado cannabis requirements

Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

Employees must also hold an active Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) Employee License before beginning regulated cannabis work.

Already have an active MED license? That's helpful, but we will also consider candidates who are eligible and willing to obtain one before beginning work.

Employees are responsible for obtaining, maintaining and paying for their required MED license.

Benefits

Full-time employees have access to our benefits package, including:

  • Medical insurance through Kaiser Permanente
  • Dental insurance through Delta Dental
  • Vision coverage through VSP
  • Supplemental accident, illness and gap coverage through Transamerica
  • Colorado SecureSavings retirement program
  • Paid sick leave
  • PTO/vacation beginning after six months of employment
  • PTO that increases with tenure, up to four weeks per year after five years
  • Performance and wage reviews
  • Participation in our regular customer loyalty program, including 10% back in loyalty rewards on eligible purchases, subject to program terms and applicable law

An entry point into cannabis retail

This position can be a starting point for someone who wants to learn more about the retail side of the cannabis industry.

Front Desk employees get exposure to customer service, compliance procedures, online ordering, cannabis products and the daily operation of a dispensary. Employees who become proficient in the position and demonstrate good judgment and reliability may have opportunities to learn additional retail responsibilities or pursue budtending and other positions as openings become available.

Advancement isn't automatic or based simply on time in the position. We want employees to build the skills needed to take on more responsibility successfully.

About High Plainz Strains

High Plainz Strains is part of Nature's Herbs & Wellness, a locally owned Colorado cannabis company that has been operating for more than 15 years.

We're still privately owned by the same people who started the company, with longstanding roots in Northern Colorado. What began as a local cannabis business has grown to include dispensaries, cultivation, extraction, manufacturing and distribution.

Our Fort Lupton employees are part of a larger operation, but the expectation at the store level is straightforward: treat customers well, know your responsibilities and do the job correctly even when the store is busy.

For someone entering the cannabis industry, the front desk provides an opportunity to learn the business from the customer-facing side while working for an established local operator with several different areas of the industry under one company.

Location: Fort Lupton, Colorado Employment: Full-time Hours: Generally 35 hours per week Availability: Retail availability including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays Base compensation: $15.16/hour Additional compensation: Front Desk receives 10% of budtender tips earned during its shift; recently averaging approximately 30–40 per 8-hour shift

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
