Position : Navy ERP / SAP S/4HANA Financial Analyst

Clearance: Active DoD clearance

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced ERP Financial Management Subject Matter Expert to support the Navy Financial Management Office (FMO) in managing and modernizing financial operations within the Navy ERP and SAP S/4HANA environments. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in federal financial management processes and Navy ERP and/or SAP S/4HANA, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex financial management issues, advise stakeholders on system capabilities and best practices, and support enterprise modernization initiatives. This role is onsite in Crystal City, VA.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Navy ERP / SAP S/4HANA Financial Management Support

  • Provide functional expertise in Navy ERP and/or SAP S/4HANA financial management processes including general ledger accounting, budget execution, accounts payable/receivable, cost management, and reimbursable order processing.
  • Support the Navy Financial Management Office (FMO) in analyzing, interpreting, and resolving financial management issues within the Navy ERP and S/4HANA environment.
  • Advise FMO staff on Navy ERP and SAP S/4HANA system capabilities, functional differences between legacy Navy ERP and the S/4HANA platform, and best practices as they apply to Departmental-level financial management requirements.
  • Review and validate financial transactions, reconciliations, and period-end close activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable DON and DoD financial management regulations.
  • Identify and document financial system discrepancies; coordinate resolution with Navy ERP functional and technical teams, program office representatives, and BSO-level stakeholders as appropriate.

S/4HANA Transition & Modernization Support

  • Support Navy ERP modernization and S/4HANA migration activities including requirements analysis, business process review, gap identification, and functional testing.
  • Assist in mapping legacy Navy ERP business processes to SAP S/4HANA equivalents, identifying process changes, configuration impacts, and user readiness requirements.
  • Participate in S/4HANA functional testing cycles including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT), documenting results and coordinating defect resolution.
  • Support development of transition documentation including business process procedures (BPPs), delta training materials, and change impact assessments.

Business Process Analysis & Advisory

  • Analyze FMO financial management business processes and identify opportunities for improvement or re-engineering within the Navy ERP / S/4HANA environment.
  • Develop and maintain financial management SOPs, desktop procedures, and policy guidance documents reflecting current system behavior and DON financial management requirements.
  • Serve as a functional resource on Navy ERP and S/4HANA integration points with other enterprise systems including DCAS, STARS, EDA, and other interfaced DON financial and logistics systems.
  • Prepare findings, options analyses, and recommendations for FMO working groups and leadership review.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience in DoD or Department of the Navy financial management, with direct hands-on experience in Navy ERP and/or SAP S/4HANA.
  • Demonstrated functional expertise in one or more SAP financial management modules — General Ledger (FI), Funds Management (FM), Controlling (CO), or Materials Management (MM) — within Navy ERP or an S/4HANA environment.
  • Working knowledge of DON and DoD financial management regulations including DFAS-Cleveland procedures, DON FM&C policy, OUSD(C) guidance, and applicable OMB circulars.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA either through direct implementation or migration experience, or through participation in a Navy ERP modernization or upgrade program.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial system issues clearly to both technical teams and non-technical leadership stakeholders.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting the Navy Financial Management Office (FMO) or a BSO-level comptroller function within the Department of the Navy.
  • Hands-on participation in an SAP S/4HANA implementation, migration, or upgrade program in a DoD or federal government context.
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), or other S/4HANA user experience and reporting tools.
  • Experience developing or delivering Navy ERP or S/4HANA end-user training or functional documentation.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Relevant certifications a plus: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, CDFM, PMP, and/or SAP Certified Application Associate (FI/CO or S/4HANA Finance)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
