Job Description

SAE Auckland is looking for an inspiring and creative Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to join our teaching team. This full-time role (1 FTE) focuses primarily on Audio Engineering and Production, with opportunities to also contribute across Music Production and Common Core courses.

We’re seeking an educator who thrives at the intersection of creativity and innovation—someone who brings interdisciplinary expertise, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to continuous professional growth. You’ll engage students through forward-thinking teaching methods, foster their artistic and academic development, and contribute to both creative practice and scholarly research.

As a valued member of our team, you’ll also play an important role in the wider SAE community—providing pastoral care, supporting student success, and contributing to the achievement of our strategic and operational goals.

If you’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of songwriters and music professionals—and eager to shape the future of creative education—we’d love to hear from you.

Depending on experience and qualifications, we may consider appointing a Senior Lecturer / Kaiako Matua, if appropriate.

Qualifications

The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • Master’s Degree (NZQA Level 9), or the willingness to undertake this
  • A completed tertiary teaching qualification is preferred
  • Evidence of reputation within creative media disciplines
  • Demonstrated comprehension of and experience in employing effective teaching techniques to facilitate success among diverse learners
  • A track record of engagement in research projects
  • Verification of ongoing reflective learning and continuous professional development
  • Acknowledgment of Matauranga Māori - embracing the values, tikanga (protocols), kawa (regulations) of cultural practices and traditions, and showing respect for Te Reo Māori.

Additional Information

At SAE, our employee perks and benefits include:

  • Access to global career opportunities across the Navitas portfolio
  • Work in Parnell village, just a short walk from Auckland’s CBD
  • Free car-parking space on site
  • Creative, modern, world-class facilities
  • Genuine flexibility with hybrid working arrangements
  • Two paid volunteer days per year for your passionate causes
  • Health & well-being packages including free counselling and well-being specialist support for employees and family members

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
