The posting

Neuberger Wealth oversees approximately $81 billion in assets for individuals, families, and institutions. The Wealth Investment Strategy Group supports the investment process by contributing to comprehensive portfolio solutions, including strategic asset allocation (SAA) models, tactical asset allocation (TAA) recommendations, portfolio construction, and risk management. The team also contributes to macro/market research and thought leadership, and partners on product and platform development initiatives for the Wealth business.

The Private Markets Strategist is a key contributor supporting the integration of private markets exposure into multi-asset class portfolios through rigorous analysis, portfolio insights, and client-ready deliverables. The candidate should develop a comprehensive understanding of Neuberger’s broad private markets platform and serve as a subject matter expert on a wide range of strategies across private equity, private credit, and real assets, including their role in a diversified private markets allocation, risk/return profile, competitive landscape, current opportunity set and key differentiators.

The Private Markets Strategist partners with Investment Strategists, Wealth Advisors, Relationship Managers, Investment Teams and Marketing to translate market and portfolio views into practical, implementable guidance across private markets. Success requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with Wealth Advisors and Relationship Managers to support fundraising efforts with a goal of increased saturation of private markets exposure across client portfolios
  • Develop holistic guidance for integrating private market strategies into client portfolios in alignment with the return objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity constraints and tax considerations of a wide range of client types (high net worth and ultra-high net worth, endowments, foundations and pension plans)
  • Leverage and maintain liquidity budgeting and commitment pacing models, including cash flow forecasting (contributions, distributions, NAV growth) to manage J-curve exposure and maintain target private markets allocation over multi-year commitment cycles.
  • Serve as subject matter expert across all relevant Neuberger private market-oriented strategies – buyouts, growth equity, secondaries, direct lending, real estate, etc.- including their risk/return drivers, vintage-year dynamics, current market positioning and emerging trends within the private markets landscape
  • Present to various client/prospect groups (HNW, intermediary, institutional, boards, consultants, etc.) in one-on-one and group settings. Candidate must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Drive advisor engagement through the creation of compelling client-facing and internal content (presentations, market updates, whitepapers, webinar materials, talking points, and training content)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, CAIA and/or other designations preferred
  • 7-10+ years industry experience required in financial markets, investment research or wealth management
  • Strong understanding of both public and private markets, asset allocation and portfolio construction
  • Direct experience in portfolio implementation for individual high net worth, ultra-high net worth, family office and institutional clients
  • Strong problem-solving skills along with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to collaboration and team work; willingness to volunteer ideas and create analytical work beyond what is asked
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Preqin, Pitchbook; working knowledge of current AI tools preferred
  • Series 7 and 66 exams preferred

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
