Job Description

As a Researcher you will aid in the production of the daily broadcast. You will work directly with the editorial teams of the 3rd Hour of TODAY and TODAY broadcast.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 12 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Job Duties:

  • Gathering elements for live segments and identifying the best editorial content
  • Working with an editor
  • Pitch story ideas
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and on team projects
  • Strong awareness of NBC News programs, talent, policies, guidelines and practices
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of management and talent
  • Flexible, organized, self-starter, and extremely detail-oriented – able to seek out answers and resources on own
  • PTO coverage for other positions as needed

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of news experience production and/or administrative experience
  • Must have strong editorial judgment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication or a related field
  • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite and social media
  • Must be able to work in New York City
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
  • Ability to work overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Must be willing to adhere to all company workplace safety policies and protocols

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proactive thinker with understanding of how to apply data
  • Experience with creating research data
  • Knowledge of iNews, Media Central, VPost, Newsconnect and/or editing software
  • Experience shooting with SLR cameras
  • Experience working with digital editorial teams

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:

  • Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months
  • Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment
  • Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment

Salary Range: $26.00/hr - $31.00/hr
