The posting

Nelnet Business Services (NBS), a division of Nelnet, Inc., provides payment technology and education services to more than 1,200 higher education institutions, nearly 12,000 K-12 schools, and millions of individual students, families, and supporters across the globe. Our culture of service enables us to form long-lasting and trusted partnerships, while our focus on creativity and innovative solutions empowers our customer communities to thrive.

WHO WE ARE:

We are FACTS Student Information System (SIS), and just like our parent company, Nelnet, we are dedicated to diversification and growth. We are people driven. As opportunities arise to diversify and apply our customer service and software expertise, we look to develop our associates to grow right alongside the company.

We move fast, stay curious, and value fresh ideas. At FACTS, you won’t just keep up with change - you’ll help shape it. And because we’re only as good as our people, we make sure our teams have the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Senior Software Engineer at FACTS SIS, you will be a key component of the application development process. You will work closely with Product, Engineering and other internal teams to better understand customer needs in order to create new products and product features that will enhance and evolve FACTS SIS solutions. You will also mentor less experienced engineers and give guidance on adherence to best practices and development/quality standards. This will include engaging with resources that are located across the globe. While we work in a .NET stack with Angular, we value engineering fundamentals, passion and the ability to learn over specific tech experience.

This position offers a hybrid work option. Nelnet values flexibility and understands the importance of work-life integration. Our hybrid work environment allows associates within 30 miles of an office to work remotely for part of the week, while also fostering collaboration and team connection through in-office presence.

Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. To be considered, candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Compensation range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 annually depending on experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researches, designs, implements and manages software applications.
  • Partners with Product and Engineering team to define requirements.
  • Write, test, and implement efficient code.
  • Review and provide feedback on pull requests.
  • Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow.
  • Stay positive and solution-oriented with team members and stakeholders.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise web applications using technologies such as C#, ASP.NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, SQL Server, NoSQL databases, JSON, and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Azure Cloud Services preferred.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a forward-thinking approach to incorporating AI into daily development workflows to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical competency, with a logical, analytical, and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and management on complex issues.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.
  • Adapts well to change and focuses on continuous improvement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
