Job Summary

Are you passionate about cloud technologies and eager to develop innovative cloud-based solutions? NetApp's Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team is building industry-leading cloud storage services that power mission-critical enterprise workloads in Microsoft Azure.

We are looking for a highly motivated engineering manager to help lead a team of engineers to develop and operate cloud-scale distributed systems that span storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. This is a unified engineering team where the team is expected to contribute across development, automated validation, performance, operational readiness, and service reliability. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership from design through production, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the functional, performance and scalability of the data plane rich with data management.
  • Own and drive features through the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
  • Operate cloud-native services leveraging containers, microservices, distributed systems principles, and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Drive engineering excellence through automated testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and customer-facing experiences.
  • Represent the team in release and semester planning forums, ensuring engineering perspectives are reflected in organization-level planning and commitment decisions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and design reviews to help drive technical excellence and engineering best practices.
  • Guide the team in troubleshooting complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability, scalability, and operational improvements.
  • Work closely with product management, architects, and partner teams to translate customer and business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts, design tradeoffs, and project status to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Contribute to the technical growth of the team through coaching and mentorship opportunities.
  • Track team objectives, delivery plans, risks, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and career development.
  • Develop succession plans for critical roles and build a pipeline of future technical and people leaders.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage adoption of AI tools and practices that improve team productivity.

Job Requirements

  • 8-12 years of relevant industry experience.
  • 3+ years of people management or leadership experience.
  • Experience working with backend core engineering teams.
  • Working knowledge of storage platforms such as SAN/NAS.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD pipelines, etc.
  • Experience collaborating across Product Management, Engineering, and Support teams.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build relationships across technical communities.
  • Ability to contribute to architecture and system design and understand modern software development workflows.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Knowledge of AI tools and practical AI use cases.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
