The posting

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

A lot of those memberships come to life on TV. Before any TV, set-top box or streaming stick can show the Netflix app, someone has to make sure it actually works, and works well. That's where we come in.

We're part of Client and Partner Technologies (CPT), the org that makes Netflix shine on partner devices. Our organization, Enablement Applications, builds the tooling that TV makers, chipset vendors and ODMs use to bring Netflix to their devices.

Meet the DeCap team

We own how new TV devices get certified, upgraded and scaled on NRDP (Netflix Ready Device Platform), for partners like LG, Samsung, Realtek and MediaTek and for teams across Netflix. Today that journey is spread across many legacy tools. We're turning it into one smooth experience and making device data Netflix can rely on. On the way we're automating the trickiest certification workflows, building the device data platform, and modernizing the older systems underneath it all.

The team consists of 14 engineers, 12 are based in Warsaw, and 2 in Taiwan close to our partners. Our stakeholders are spread across the US, Brazil, Europe and Asia.

What you'll do

You'll be DeCap's technical leader. We're looking for someone who already operates at Staff level, and will bring the experience in the team.

  • Lead with a product mindset. Get to know our partners, users and business well enough to spot the opportunities that matter. Be a true partner to the Product, Design and Engineering manager: shape the roadmap together, make the tough trade-offs, and connect business and technical strategy into one plan. Validate ideas quickly through prototypes and experiments, working closely with users, Product and Design.
  • Shape our AI vision. Assess where we are today, identify where agentic AI can bring the most value in our product and in how we plan, build, test and operate, and drive adoption step by step, together with the team. Establish what works as shared best practices and scale them across the whole team.
  • Own your decisions. Take ownership without waiting for direction, identify what matters most and drive it forward. Make clear, well-reasoned decisions under ambiguity, seek input from the right people without waiting for consensus, own the outcome, and course-correct quickly when new information comes up.
  • Set the technical strategy. Turn a complex, legacy-heavy landscape into a clear technical vision with concrete steps. Evolve it step by step and deliver consistently, with each iteration bringing clear, well-reasoned value to the business or to the team's operations and efficiency. Bring deep expertise in domain data modelling, schema design, API contracts and clear domain boundaries with other teams.
  • Mentor and raise the bar. Be a natural multiplier who grows the engineers around you. Help engineers become stronger technical owners through design reviews, pairing and hands-on guidance. Share knowledge generously through clear docs and tech talks. Set and model high engineering standards, and build a culture where engineers challenge each other's ideas and learn from them.

We are looking for candidates who

  • Have already led big, multi-team, multi-quarter efforts in a complex domain, bringing strong engineers to agreement.
  • Think in systems. You're strong at domain modelling, schema design and long-lived API contracts, and you've untangled a legacy architecture without stopping the train.
  • Are a strong backend engineer on the JVM (Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot), GraphQL, gRPC and with the distributed systems, and comfortable enough across the stack to make good end-to-end calls.
  • Get curious about the "why". You dig into the domain, the users and the business, and spot connections.
  • Don't wait to be told what to do. You find what matters, get the right input, decide, and adjust quickly when you learn something new.
  • Use AI every day and have built or shipped something AI or agentic yourself. Also have opinions about where it helps and where it doesn't.
  • Make the people around you better and set a bar for the team.
  • Enjoy collaboration with people across the US, Europe and Asia, and like seeing your team in our Warsaw office a few days a week.

Bonus if you have experience with

  • Data platforms: analysing complex data relationships, finding patterns and simplifying the underlying models.
  • Building test frameworks, automation tools, CI/CD or developer platforms used by other engineers.
  • Driving technical standards or initiatives that reached beyond a single team.
  • If you have experience and passion for devices: TVs, set-top boxes, chipsets - you'll feel great on our team.

Why DeCap?

Your work shapes how Netflix ships to every TV in the world. You'll own the stack end to end, from backend and data to UI, with deep product context and plenty of challenges. In the team, we have lunch together, laugh a lot, celebrate the wins, help each other through the hard parts, and give each other honest feedback.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
