Role Overview

NETGEAR is looking for a Senior Software Developer to help build our next-generation firewall and cybersecurity solutions. In this role, you will design and implement software across critical security domains, with a primary focus on Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) capabilities, alongside Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Secure Web Gateways (SWG), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN).

As a Senior Software Developer, you will design and develop core software modules that power secure, scalable, and high-performance firewall and network security solutions, working closely with architects and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and optimize firewall software modules for next-generation cybersecurity solutions, including NGFW, SASE, ZTNA, SWG, VPN, and SD-WAN.

- Contribute to design decisions and to the technical direction of the firewall and cybersecurity platform.

- Ensure the scalability, performance, and security of software components through thoughtful design and rigorous testing.

- Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in coding, design, and the software development lifecycle.

- Conduct code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and support continuous integration and deployment processes.

- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving security threats to ensure the product remains competitive and secure.

- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions in both development and production environments.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

- 5–8 years of hands-on networking, cloud, and security software development experience, with a strong background in systems programming, networking, or security-related domains.

- Experience working on enterprise-grade cybersecurity products or network infrastructure solutions.

- Strong expertise in firewall and network technologies such as NGFW, stateful and deep packet inspection (DPI), IDS/IPS, NAT, VPNs, SWG, ZTNA, SD-WAN, and SASE.

- Hands-on experience with Linux networking and packet-processing stacks such as netfilter / iptables / nftables, eBPF/XDP, or DPDK.

- Proven experience designing and building scalable, high-performance software solutions in complex, distributed environments.

- Proficiency in cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Go, Rust, or Python

- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking protocols, and secure software development practices.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to technical discussions and make sound design decisions.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and mentor junior developers.

Preferred Qualifications (optional):

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and modern DevOps practices, including automated testing for networking and security software.

- Contributions to open-source security or networking projects.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
