About the Role We are currently seeking a Community Disability Practitioner to join our team at the Sandpiper Group Home in Northwest Calgary. The individuals supported in this home are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities and may occasionally present behavioural challenges. Staff are provided with comprehensive behavioural support plans and training to ensure successful outcomes. This role involves supporting individuals in all aspects of daily living, including:
Personal care and hygiene routines Meal preparation and household duties Medication administration Grocery shopping and community access Transportation to appointments and recreational activities Supporting health, wellness, and independence goals Implementing behavioural support plans
The successful candidate will be confident supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, comfortable driving throughout Calgary, and passionate about promoting inclusion, dignity, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities
Provide emotional, physical, behavioural, environmental, and medical support Assist individuals with daily living activities at home and in the community Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation Attend medical, legal, and other appointments as required Support recreational and social activities Maintain a safe and clean living environment Complete incident reports, fire drills, and hazard assessments Communicate professionally with guardians, families, and support networks Advocate for individuals' needs and coordinate with community resources Learn and implement behavioural support strategies Perform key worker duties and support individual goals Transport individuals to appointments and activities as required

Schedule & Compensation Position Type: Permanent Full-Time (40 hours/week) Schedule:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday and Sunday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting wage: $21.19/hour Annual wage review opportunities Cost-shared health and dental benefits after probation Six (6) flex days after three months of employment Mileage reimbursement at $0.50/km for work-related driving
Minimum Qualifications
Canadian Certificate or Diploma in Human Services, Disability Studies, Community Support, or a related field (equivalencies considered) Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Valid Class 5 Driver's License Reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance Ability to support individuals with diverse disabilities and complex needs
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum one year of experience in human services or disability support Experience working in a group home, outreach, or fast-paced support environment Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, addiction, harm reduction, and substance use supports Medical or healthcare-related education or experience Current certifications in:
First Aid/CPR Medication Administration Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol (APRP) Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS)
