The posting

New Loop's mission is to provide a sustainable alternative to single-use packaging through reusable packaging and a deposit-based return system.

You'll take technical ownership of an established production platform that currently keeps track of the deposits on more than 3.000.000 pieces of reusable packaging. The platform manages deposit state, deposit values, payouts and a web-based return flow used by consumers. New Loop also manages physical return boxes where consumers return their packaging. We're continuously developing both the software and the user experience around these boxes to make returning reusable packaging as simple and frictionless as possible for the user.

The role

We're a small company of 6–8 people, so you'll work directly with the rest of the company to understand what we're working to achieve, turn the needs into technical solutions, and build them. As the company grows you will have an opportunity to shape your role.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Drive development of the New Loop platform across backend and frontend while keeping the platform maintainable and scalable as New Loop grows.
  • Translate business problems and intentions into technical solutions.
  • Take technical ownership of the codebase and architecture.
  • Work directly with the rest of the organization to understand what needs to be built and why.
  • Continuously improve the user experience around our physical return boxes and the software that supports them.

You'll have technical sparring with Brian Christensen (previously Too Good To Go), our technical adviser who developed New Loop's existing digital infrastructure, and knows the platform and the decisions behind it. So you'll have someone to draw on as you take ownership of its future development.

Who we're looking for

We're primarily looking for a strong developer and problem solver. You have a solid software engineering foundation and you should be able to understand the intent behind a business requirement while also being able to work with the rest of the company to find the best solution for a problem.

We're particularly interested in someone who:

  • Is self-motivated and takes initiative.
  • Enjoys taking ownership of a product and its technical decisions.
  • Has strong programming and problem-solving fundamentals.
  • Wants the freedom and responsibility that comes with working in a small company.

Experience with our exact stack is useful, but understanding software engineering and being able to learn matters more than matching every technology on the list.

We are currently utilizing AI for AI assisted development and the use of AI is encouraged as long as the code quality does not suffer.

Start date and salary

We expect you to start in late 2026. Salary will be based on your qualifications and experience, while reflecting New Loop’s current stage as a startup. We’ll discuss the package openly during the recruitment process.

Interested?

If the combination of programming, technical ownership, physical products and solving real business problems sounds interesting, we'd like to hear from you.

Tech stack

Backend

Our backend is built in .NET / C# and handles container and deposit state, return sessions, payouts, payment integrations and the business processes around them.

The architecture is distributed and event-driven, with an emphasis on traceability and structured logging.

  • Next.js
  • Sentry

Infrastructure

The platform runs on AWS and is deployed across multiple environments.

  • AWS ECS
  • AWS Amplify
  • SQS

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
