Location: San Jose, California (Hybrid) Salary: USD 30 - USD 40 per hour Type: Full Time Internship (June 1, 2027 - August 31, 2027)

The Role

We are a passionate team of engineers, designers, and artists building active, camera-based games for Nex Playground. Our products span fitness, character-driven action, family party play, and experimental new formats, including:

  • Fitness & training: NexGym, Zumba Fitness Party, Family Fitness Challenge, and Training Ground.
  • Party & Action: Kung Fu Panda: Train Like A Master and Copy Cat Deluxe.

As our Software Engineer Intern (Game Development), you will work with the US game development team on production games, content updates, and new prototypes. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, designers, and artists to turn gameplay ideas into responsive motion controls, polished game systems, and fun physical experiences for players of all ages.

What You Will Bring to the Table

  • Build high-quality motion-based gameplay experiences using Unity, C#, and Nex's proprietary motion engine.
  • Contribute directly to production games and content updates, iterating on features to improve the player experience.
  • Brainstorm, prototype, and evaluate new game ideas in close collaboration with designers and fellow engineers.
  • Participate in playtesting, technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and code reviews.

Should Have

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
  • Solid foundation in software development and algorithms.
  • Passion for games and curiosity about what makes them fun.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Care for users and attention to detail when building products and features.
  • Growth mindset and excitement for working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with Unity and C# is helpful, but not expected at the start; our onboarding includes training for interns who are new to the engine.
  • Experience with gameplay systems, motion controls, physics, UI/UX, tools, prototypes, or game jams.
  • Interest in fitness, family play, party games, or creative physical gaming experiences.

We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible working hours and vacation policy.
  • Product-driven culture that treasures talents and individual growth.
  • Front-row seat and hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies in the evolving gaming field

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
