Position Overview

We are seeking two Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join the team in International Falls, Minnesota.

In this role, you will provide direct nursing support to healthcare providers in an outpatient clinic environment, assisting with patient assessments, clinical procedures, medication administration, patient education, and daily care coordination within the LPN scope of practice. The clinic operates with a one-nurse-per-provider staffing model, allowing nurses to work closely with their assigned providers while maintaining continuity of care for patients. Nurses may also assist other providers and clinical staff within the clinic as needed.

This opportunity is ideal for an LPN who enjoys outpatient nursing, values consistent daytime hours, and thrives in a smaller, community-focused healthcare environment. The position offers flexible scheduling with either four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities, and the opportunity to develop strong working relationships with providers and patients in a rural healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and clinical support to patients receiving services.
  • Work closely with an assigned healthcare provider to coordinate patient visits, clinical workflows, and daily patient care activities.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical histories, current medications, and relevant clinical information.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and minor outpatient procedures.
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with patient examinations, diagnostic procedures, and clinical treatments.
  • Administer medications and perform nursing interventions in accordance with provider orders, facility protocols, and the Minnesota LPN scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient conditions, identify changes in health status, and communicate relevant findings to the assigned provider or supervising nurse.
  • Perform appropriate clinical procedures, specimen collection, and other nursing tasks based on training, competency, and provider direction.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
  • Coordinate patient referrals, follow-up appointments, and continuity-of-care activities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using Epic EMR.
  • Follow established infection prevention practices, patient safety protocols, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Float within the clinic to assist other providers, nurses, and clinical teams when additional support is needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Support routine clinic operations, including examination room preparation, supply management, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
  • Promote a positive patient experience through compassionate communication, professionalism, and attentive nursing care.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Licensure: Active Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Clinical Skills: Ability to provide safe and effective nursing care, obtain vital signs, assist with examinations, and perform nursing interventions within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Patient Care: Strong patient assessment, observation, and communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use electronic medical records and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with assigned healthcare providers and communicate effectively with other clinical team members.
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Ability to work either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, depending on provider scheduling requirements.
  • Floating Requirements: Willingness to assist other providers and nurses within the clinic as needed.
  • Health Screening: Must provide documentation of a negative tuberculosis (TB) screening or test in accordance with facility requirements.
  • Additional Requirements: Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple clinical responsibilities in a busy outpatient environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a primary care practice, or outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Experience supporting physicians or advanced practice providers in a one-nurse-per-provider staffing model.
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR.
  • Experience with outpatient nursing procedures, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination.
  • Background in family medicine, internal medicine, or general outpatient nursing.
  • Ability to independently organize daily clinical responsibilities while maintaining effective communication with providers.
  • Experience working in a smaller healthcare environment where clinical staff collaborate across multiple patient care responsibilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
