Job Description:

Staff Product Operations Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a Staff Product Operations Manager to build and operate the processes that connect product strategy, roadmaps, prioritization, and portfolio decision-making across a multi-product R&D organization.

This role will partner closely with Product Management, R&D Operations, Program Management, Engineering, and Finance to create a consistent and scalable approach for product management and R&D priorities.

The Staff Product Operations Manager will provide the structure, analytics, and governance needed to help leadership make informed tradeoffs across products while enabling Product Managers to remain focused on customers, markets, product strategy, and product outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers to create governance around product strategies, value propositions, target markets, and strategic objectives
  • Integrate individual product strategies and roadmaps into a consolidated enterprise product portfolio view.
  • Develop clear executive-level views of priorities, roadmap changes, portfolio performance, dependencies, tradeoffs and coordinate regular product portfolio reviews.
  • Facilitate cross-product prioritization and develop tradeoff scenarios for leadership.
  • Partner with R&D Program Management and Engineering to identify capacity and resource conflicts created by product priorities.
  • Incorporate financial analysis, ROI, NPV, sensitivity analysis, and investment requirements into portfolio decisions. Ensure product, commercial, engineering, financial, and execution inputs are available for major portfolio decisions.
  • Establish common product and portfolio KPI standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field; MBA preferred but not required.
  • 12+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Operations or related functions.
  • Experience working in global complex product-development environments; hardware, industrial technology, or engineering-intensive industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with product roadmaps, portfolio prioritization, business cases, and executive governance.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to structure complex portfolio decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Experience developing scalable processes, dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to translate between product, engineering, financial, and executive stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like

  • A clear and integrated enterprise view of product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Consistent prioritization and business-case standards across product teams.
  • Leadership has clear visibility into portfolio tradeoffs before making investment and resource decisions.
  • Product demand is translated into clear, prioritized inputs for R&D portfolio planning.
  • Resource and roadmap conflicts are identified earlier.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
