SVP/VP (Private Banks, Family Offices & China Distribution)

  • Department: Global Asset Management, Wholesale Client Group
  • Reports to: Head of Intermediary / Wholesale Distribution Asia
  • Location: Hong Kong
  • Mandatory Licence: SFC Type 1 & 4

Role Overview

  • Senior sell-side fund sales role to grow net new AUM across external private bank platforms, independent family offices, EAMs, internal global private banking channels and Greater China cross-border intermediary flows (QDII, Wealth Management Connect).
  • Distribute full multi-asset product suite: long-only equity, multi-asset, fixed income, sustainable funds and selected alternative strategies.
  • Cover two external stakeholder groups: private bank distributor intermediaries, and direct coverage of independent family offices / EAMs (professional intermediaries, not retail).
  • Require close cross-team alignment with internal global private banking and onshore China asset management teams.

Key Accountabilities

Relationship Ownership: Private Banks, Independent Family Offices & EAMs

  • Build and maintain senior relationships with fund selectors, investment committee members and product gatekeepers at top-tier Hong Kong external private bank platforms; own CRM for assigned PB distributor accounts.
  • Source and service single-family offices, multi-family offices and EAMs; engage CIOs and investment teams to win fund allocations and mandate opportunities.
  • Partner with internal global private banking teams to increase adoption of the firm's funds on the internal PB platform.
  • Create formal account plans for all key accounts (PB platforms, FOs, EAMs), identify penetration gaps and expand product uptake.

Commercial Delivery & Flow Target

  • Meet annual net new AUM / inflow KPIs across 3 buckets: external private banks, FO/EAM segment, Greater China cross-border flows.
  • Pitch full multi-asset range including equity, fixed income, multi-asset and ESG/sustainable strategies; support alternative fund distribution for sophisticated family office clients.
  • Own end-to-end RFP/RFI, pitchbook preparation and PM-led roadshows for PB distributors and family office investment teams.

Greater China Cross-Border Business Development

  • Drive QDII, Wealth Management Connect and cross-border wealth flows linking Mainland institutions, distributors and family offices to Hong Kong; occasional Mainland travel required.
  • Collaborate with onshore China asset management teams for joint go-to-market execution.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management

  • Work with investment, product specialist, marketing and compliance teams to host distributor workshops, FO/EAM roundtables and RM training sessions.
  • Perform KYD (Know-Your-Distributor) and due diligence for private bank platforms; implement SFC-compliant client suitability frameworks for FO/EAM engagements.
  • Share market and client feedback with product teams to refine Asia-focused investment solutions.

Market Intelligence & Competitor Monitoring

  • Track peer asset managers' PB distribution, FO coverage, product launches and pricing; refine firm value proposition accordingly.
