At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Quality Analyst Level 3 to join our team. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL and requires the ability to work full time on-site.

This role will support the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program and will support software-focused quality and mission assurance activities for one or more products on the GWS program. The team’s focus is on ensuring effective process execution, compliance, and continuous improvement in the development, testing, and release of software deliverables. The ideal candidate will have experience in software-intensive environments, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to use data and metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.

What You’ll Get To Do

Quality Analyst Level 3 will be responsible for:

  • Leading software quality and mission assurance activities for one or more GWS products, with emphasis on process health, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Executing Quality & Mission Assurance (QMA) responsibilities in alignment with the organizational Quality Management System (QMS), including compliance to AS9100 Rev D, applicable Northrop Grumman procedures (PrOPs), and customer requirements.
  • Planning and performing internal audits and assessments of software development and test processes; reporting findings and driving corrective actions.
  • Supporting individual product scrum teams by attending meetings, monitoring product and process health, and offering quality focused suggestions for improvement to software and program leadership.
  • Leading or guiding Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) for software-related nonconformances, quality escapes, and audit findings; validating effectiveness and ensuring closure in the appropriate tracking tools.
  • Defining, collecting, and analyzing software quality metrics; using metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting mission assurance of software capabilities primarily through witnessing and reviewing system and subsystem-level testing of software-enabled functions.
  • Assisting with product reviews, configuration audits, test witnessing, and post-test analysis as needed.
  • Reviewing, developing, and implementing Software Quality-related procedures and processes.
  • Collaborating with engineering, test, chief engineering office, and product teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Supporting local lab activities to include software installations, configuration verification, and observing test execution.
  • Participating in internal and external audits and mission assurance boards (e.g., PCAB) as required.

Due to the nature of the role, this is not offered as a teleworking or hybrid position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in quality, computer science, or configuration management; OR a Master's degree and 3 years of experience in quality, computer science, or configuration management; OR an Associates Degree with 7 years of experience in quality, computer science, or configuration management
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application and the ability to obtain/maintain required program access.
  • Experience in mission assurance, quality engineering, or software/hardware development/test environments within aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile software development processes (e.g., scrum, incremental delivery, CI/CD concepts).
  • Experience using metrics for process health and performance monitoring, including data collection, analysis, and reporting for software quality.
  • Experience in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (RCCA), and risk management.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and models (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, CMMI) applied to software-intensive systems.
  • Experience evaluating, tracing, and analyzing requirements and software development lifecycle artifacts.
  • Experience in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related STEM discipline and 5+ years of relevant software development/integration/test or mission assurance/quality experience; OR Master’s with 3+ years; OR PhD with 1+ year
  • Experience with an Agile software development program.
  • Prior engagement in customer or program management interface roles regarding quality, mission assurance, or risk/opportunity management.
  • Experience in a Software Engineering environment in a non-developer capacity (quality, mission assurance, test, or configuration management).
  • Experience with software build qualification testing (including automation) from a quality assurance perspective.
  • Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software problem tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, DOORS).
  • Experience in audits of engineering and software processes.
  • AS9100 experience.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma/Lean tools and methodologies; professional quality certifications such as ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Black Belt are a plus.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
