Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) seeks a Manager Software Engineering 3 position as the Deputy Program Manager, Data Solutions and Platforms (DSP) in our Roy, UT Innovation Center location.
Technical leadership is a must! The candidate will report to the Director, DSP and will assist in the execution of a large, diverse data engineering, data science, cyber engineering, and artificial intelligence portfolio. The Deputy will directly oversee the Portfolio Execution Team responsible for Agile execution and managing the AOP. The Deputy will solve complex problems affecting the portfolio and will be vital in developing and executing DSP strategy.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Be responsible for monitoring and correcting portfolio programmatic activities
- Serve as the primary Delegation of Authority when the Director is unavailable
- Review, understand, and explain product execution metrics with DSP and Digital Ecosystem Leadership
- Provide advice on staffing, skill set management, and operations
- Interact directly with all team members, facilitate collaboration, and drive excellence in engineering and delivery

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 8 years related software or systems experience or MS degree with 6 years of related experience, or 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
- Experience in program management: planning, risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements on a large system development-type contract
- Experience with technical baseline development and management.
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- 5+ years leading and managing cross-disciplinary technical teams
- Experienced in engineering leadership process and tailoring.
- High proficiency in technical problem-solving, including root cause analysis and solution development.
- MS in STEM with related system development programs.
- Experience leading and managing programs >$20M annually
- Experience building, deploying, and operating complex data processing, intelligence or space ground systems, or large scale AI products.
- Experience in software architecture, software systems engineering, AI, data science or engineering, or systems integration.
Primary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00 - $250,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
