The posting

Help shape how nib works with healthcare providers across New Zealand.

At nib, we’re passionate about helping Kiwis access quality, affordable healthcare. Strong partnerships between funders and healthcare providers are a big part of making that possible, which is why managing and strengthening our provider network is a key strategic priority for us.

We’re looking for an experienced healthcare leader who can combine commercial thinking, strong relationships and people leadership to help shape what our provider network looks like next.

About the role| He Aha Te Tūranga

As Health Provider Manager, you’ll lead the strategy and performance of nib’s New Zealand provider network.

You’ll lead and develop our Health Provider Engagement team, shape our approach to provider pricing and negotiations, and build strong partnerships across the healthcare sector. You’ll use data and market insight to understand what is driving healthcare costs and where we can work differently with providers to deliver better value.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Shape and deliver our provider network strategy, including the continued development of our First Choice Network.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for key specialist and provider portfolios.
  • Lead our approach to provider pricing and negotiations.
  • Use data and market insight to understand healthcare inflation, provider performance and opportunities to improve value.
  • Build influential relationships with providers, professional groups and healthcare leaders.
  • Work across nib to help balance affordability, quality, access and provider sustainability for our members.

It’s an opportunity to tackle some genuinely interesting healthcare challenges and have a meaningful influence on how nib works with the New Zealand health sector.

About you | Ko Wai Koe

You know healthcare, but just as importantly, you’re curious about how it could work better.

You’ll be comfortable moving between the big picture and the detail, working through complex problems where there isn’t always an obvious answer, and bringing people with you.

We’d love to hear from you if you bring:

  • Strong knowledge of the New Zealand healthcare system.
  • Proven leadership experience and an ability to get the best from talented people.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience in negotiation and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to interpret data and turn insight into action.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to challenge established thinking.

Experience in private health insurance, health funding, provider contracting or network management would be valuable, but we’re equally interested in people who bring relevant experience from elsewhere in the health sector.

If you’re looking for a role where you can lead great people, solve complex healthcare problems and help shape how healthcare is funded and delivered, we’d love to hear from you.

Don't tick every box? If this role excites you and you bring relevant experience, we'd still love to hear from you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
