The posting

Nofence is a Norwegian scale-up that has built the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock. As we aim to revolutionize livestock management, we need top-notch competence in our Engineering team, and we are now looking for an Hardware Reliability Manager for our Hardware Reliability Team.

Hardware Reliability Team

Our Hardware Reliability Team works with quality at both ends of our product life cycle. First: Validation of new livestock product designs, and second: monitoring and identifying failures on products in the field. These tasks are split into two disciplines: validation and failure analysis. As Hardware Reliability Manager, you will lead both of these teams. You will have a holistic view of the real-life conditions of our products, and ensure that these conditions are replicated in the lab. What can not be replicated in the lab has to be validated in the field on test farms around the globe. You will also monitor product performance, coordinate field investigations, and recommend mitigations of quality issues together with other stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Shape the overall validation and quality strategy to match business goals and risk tolerance.
  • Lead the Hardware Reliability Team across new and existing products - setting priorities, allocating resources across projects, clearing roadblocks, and keeping the team on track.
  • Deliver clear, structured reporting on test progress, pass/fail metrics, and overall quality status.
  • Own end-to-end mechanical, electronics, and embedded validation plans from early product development through mass production and failure analysis.
  • Serve as a service point for internal stakeholders on validation and product quality.
  • Plan, conduct, and execute field testing under real-world operating conditions to validate product performance and catch issue trends early.
  • Monitor collar performance in the field after we release the product.
  • Coordinate validation activities delivered to the engineering and manufacturing teams.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering or another relevant degree
  • Experience with leading engineering activities within hardware and software
  • Experience with leading cross-functional teams at a technical level
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Knowledge of international testing standards

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Motivated by working in an autonomous cross-functional team.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced development environment and can rapidly assess and prioritize critical issues.
  • Structured with the ability to bridge the gap between engineers and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willing and able to travel across the Nordic region and internationally to meet with end-users and colleagues.
  • Comfortable working in an English-speaking environment.

About Nofence

Managing livestock has always been a challenge. Humanity has tried everything from herding with dogs to walling the animals in with barbed wire, electric, and wooden fences, but these are costly and time-consuming solutions and often in conflict with the local wildlife. It has also left vast areas of potential pasture overgrown and underutilized.

Until now.

Enter virtual fences. What started as a small group of farmers and engineers with a big idea has become Nofence – the world’s first virtual fencing solution for livestock.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
