Sous la responsabilité du Directeur du CE-Géologie, le ou la titulaire contribuera aux activités du Centre d’Excellence de la géologie, notamment en matière d’estimation des ressources, tout en jouant un rôle clé dans la gestion de projets, la coordination et l’encadrement d’une équipe de professionnels.

Plus précisément, vous serez amené à :

Volet gestion :

  • Assurer la gestion et la coordination de projets, notamment la planification des livrables, le suivi des échéanciers, des budgets et des ressources, ainsi que la coordination avec les différentes parties prenantes;
  • Encadrer et mobiliser une équipe de professionnels, assurer la répartition des mandats, le suivi de la qualité du travail, le développement des compétences et l’accompagnement des membres de l’équipe;
  • Exercer un leadership mobilisateur, tant sur le plan technique qu’humain, afin de favoriser la collaboration, le partage des connaissances et l’atteinte des objectifs organisationnels et de projet;

Volet technique :

  • Intégrer et analyser les résultats d’assurance qualité et de contrôle de qualité (QAQC) ainsi que la mise en place, la validation et le maintien de bases de données géologiques rigoureuses et conformes aux meilleures pratiques.
  • Réaliser des travaux de modélisation géologique 3D, des analyses statistiques et géostatistiques, des estimations de ressources minérales, la création de modèles de blocs (Leapfrog Geo et Edge, Surpac, Isatis), des audits internes et externes de ressources et réserves, des programmes d’échantillonnage en vrac ainsi que divers mandats liés à des projets d’exploration, de développement et d'exploitation;
  • Rédiger, réviser et/ou superviser la rédaction de rapports techniques conformes au Règlement 43-101;
  • Collaborer étroitement avec les équipes d’ingénierie dans le cadre d’études économiques afin d’assurer une compréhension optimale du gisement et l’application de méthodes de minage adaptées à la géométrie et aux caractéristiques du dépôt;
  • Assumer le rôle de responsable de projet et contribuer à la coordination et à la supervision d’équipes multidisciplinaires composées de professionnels et de spécialistes.
  • Agir à titre d'expert-conseil auprès des clients et des équipes internes, formuler des recommandations et proposer des solutions afin de résoudre des problématiques ou d’améliorer les façons de faire;
  • Agir en tant que Personne Qualifiée (Règlement 43-101 ou S-K 1300) ou de Competent Person (JORC) dans un contexte d’estimation des ressources minérales.

Nos incontrounables

  • Baccalauréat en géologie ou en génie géologique et être membre de l’Ordre des géologues du Québec ou de l’Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (ou autre selon la province);
  • Minimum de 10 années d’expérience pertinente en géologie et en opérations minières;
  • Bilinguisme est souhaitable (anglais et français);
  • Expérience en Datamine, Vulcan ou Genesis sont des atouts
  • Aisance et connaissances informatiques (niveau avancé);
  • Compétences recherchées : gestion des priorité, leadership, autonomie, habilité communicationnelle et rédactionnelle, relation client, collaboration, supervision et coordination de la qualité du travail de l’équipe

Reporting to the Director, Geology Center of Excellence, the successful candidate will contribute to the activities of the Geology Center of Excellence, particularly in mineral resource estimation, while playing a key role in project management, coordination, and the leadership of a team of professionals.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

Management Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate projects, including planning deliverables, monitoring schedules, budgets, and resources, and ensuring effective coordination with various stakeholders;
  • Lead, coach, and engage a team of professionals by assigning work, overseeing the quality of deliverables, supporting skills development, and providing ongoing guidance and mentorship;
  • Demonstrate strong technical and people leadership to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the achievement of organizational and project objectives.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Integrate and analyze Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) results, while establishing, validating, and maintaining robust geological databases in accordance with industry best practices;
  • Conduct 3D geological modeling, statistical and geostatistical analyses, mineral resource estimations, block model development (Leapfrog Geo, Leapfrog Edge, Surpac, Isatis), internal and external resource and reserve audits, bulk sampling programs, and a variety of assignments related to exploration, development, and mining operations;
  • Prepare, review, and/or supervise the preparation of technical reports compliant with NI 43-101 requirements;
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams on economic studies to ensure a thorough understanding of the orebody and the application of mining methods adapted to the geometry and characteristics of the deposit;
  • Act as Project Manager and contribute to the coordination and supervision of multidisciplinary teams composed of professionals and technical specialists;
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for clients and internal teams by providing recommendations and proposing solutions to address challenges and improve processes;
  • Act as a Qualified Person (NI 43-101 or S-K 1300) or Competent Person (JORC) in the context of mineral resource estimation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering, and membership in the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ), the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or the equivalent professional association in another province;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geology and mining operations;
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset;
  • Experience with Datamine, Vulcan, or Genesis is considered an asset;
  • Advanced computer proficiency and strong technical software skills;
  • Key competencies: prioritization and organizational skills, leadership, autonomy, strong verbal and written communication skills, client relationship management, collaboration, and the ability to supervise, coordinate, and ensure the quality of team deliverables.
