About the project

Join the team behind an innovative 3D home design platform used by millions of customers worldwide.

As a Principal-level Web Engineer, you’ll lead the development of highly interactive web experiences built on an existing 3D interface and graphics engine, helping shape a product that combines spatial computing, 3D graphics, e-commerce, and consumer technology at global scale.

In this role, you will architect, implement, and optimize consumer-facing web applications connected to the platform’s 3D capabilities. You will own technical direction, web quality, performance, and the evolution of architectures, APIs, and features across the web and microservices cloud platform. You will be a trusted technical leader who can solve complex and novel problems, explain trade-offs, and connect technical decisions to product and customer outcomes.

You will be hands-on for our distributed web engineering team. This is an approximately 50/50 role: part hands-on product engineering and part technical leadership, architecture, web quality, and partnership with Product and stakeholders. You will guide engineers and drive technical decisions without requiring direct people management.

What you’ll do

  • Own and improve web capabilities so they deliver meaningful customer and product outcomes while remaining well engineered, maintainable, performant, and scalable.
  • Own and coordinate complex technology roadmaps with a distributed development team and our partners, making trade-offs clear and adapting the approach to novel problems.
  • Be a trusted technical partner to Product Managers, designers, company leadership, and external partners, translating product goals into technical direction and communicating risks and trade-offs clearly.
  • Drive seamless customer journeys by working closely with service teams to design, build, and develop an integrated customer experience across online and in-store channels.
  • Own and promote healthy engineering practices: conduct code reviews, maintain code and architecture quality, write and review software design documents, improve observability and performance, and drive efficient and effective test automation.

What makes you a great fit

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of recent, hands-on experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend development and React (or equivalent component frameworks), with deep expertise in state management, performance optimization, and frontend architecture.
  • 8+ years engineering substantial full-stack web codebases live in production, including ownership of systems at scale and experience understanding how frontend, backend, APIs, data, and infrastructure connect.
  • 3+ years providing technical leadership for small engineering teams (3-6 engineers) on business-critical projects, including mentoring, technical direction, hiring support, and growing the effectiveness of other engineers. Direct people management is not required.
  • 5+ years designing and shipping complex distributed systems, including API design, microservices integration, performance-critical architectures, and meaningful production ownership.
  • Strong foundations in Computer Science, software engineering, and structured problem solving.
  • Fluency with Internet web technologies and modern full-stack web application technology stacks. Backend language experience may include Node, Python, Java, .NET, or equivalent technologies.
  • Familiar with best practices for DevOps, observability, testing, and quality practices for effective and efficient delivery.
  • Experience with consumer internet applications and the ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes are strongly desired.
  • Able to adjust calendar for meetings with Europe. Eastern Time location is preferred.
  • Appreciation for consumer experience, visual aesthetics, and product quality is preferred.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, distributed, and asynchronous engineering environment. Startup or high-ownership product experience is preferred.
  • Advanced English Level is required for this role as you will work with US clients. Effective communication in English is essential to deliver the best solutions to our clients and expand your horizons.
  • Nice to have: Experience with 3D graphics technologies is a plus, but prior 3D development experience is not required. Experience building consumer retail e-commerce applications.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
