Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Center Cooling

Maximize your potential. Minimize your footprint.

Nortek Data Center Cooling builds the systems that keep modern data centers running — from liquid cooling to large‑scale air solutions. Our work supports some of the world’s most demanding AI and hyperscale environments, and we solve those challenges with engineering depth and practical execution.

We keep things simple here. We communicate early, stay close to the details, and follow through. When issues come up, we address them directly, not with layers of process. Customers count on us because we do what we say and we keep projects moving.

Our culture is hands‑on and collaborative. People take ownership, move quickly, and help each other. If you like working with teammates who are straightforward and accountable, you’ll feel at home.

With the backing of Madison Air, we have the scale, stability, and manufacturing footprint to support complex, high‑growth programs.

  • Develops and documents system-level electrical requirements and architectures based on unit requirements, customer specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Designs and reviews 480 V, three-phase power and controls systems, including motors, fans, pumps, VFDs, transformers, power supplies, control panels, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Performs and validates electrical design calculations and selections including conductor and overcurrent protection sizing, grounding and bonding, equipment electrical ratings, SCCR considerations, and component application.
  • Assures compliance of electrical designs with applicable requirements including NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, UL/ETL, CE, and local codes and standards.
  • Develops and reviews electrical schematics, control panel layouts, bills of material, component specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Owns electrical portions of new product development through design reviews, prototype builds, factory/end-of-line testing, production release, sustaining engineering, and field support.
  • Leads or supports troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex electrical and controls-hardware issues and coordinates corrective actions with Controls, Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing, Service, and suppliers.
  • Evaluates alternative components and design approaches for safety, cost, availability, manufacturability, reliability, and quality improvement.
  • Peer-reviews electrical engineering work, mentors less-experienced engineers, and contributes to electrical design standards, guides, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience with industrial, commercial, HVAC, or comparable electromechanical products; 7+ years is preferred for this senior-level role.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial power and controls systems, including 480 V three-phase equipment, motors, VFDs, transformers, power supplies, and control panels.
  • Experience developing and reviewing electrical schematics, design documentation, bills of material, and component specifications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical and product-safety requirements, including NEC, NFPA 79, and UL/ETL standards; familiarity with UL 508A is expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and controls-hardware issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions, mentor others, operate autonomously, and take initiative.
  • Ability to travel periodically to manufacturing, laboratory, and customer sites as project needs require.

Preferred:

  • Data center cooling and/or HVAC/R equipment design experience, particularly chilled-water or air-handling products.
  • Direct experience with UL 508A industrial control panels and equipment certification/listing activities.
  • Experience with EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or comparable electrical CAD tools.
  • Experience with industrial communications protocols such as Modbus and BACnet.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
