The posting

Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Remote (U.S.). Supports the U.S. Government Publishing Office, Washington, DC Type: Full-time, contingent on contract award. Anticipated start November 16, 2026 Hours: 8 hours/day within 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM ET. Periodic scheduled after-hours work for patching and reboots

North Point Technology is hiring a Senior SQL Server DBA to lead administration of GPO's SQL Server and SQL Cluster environment, which supports business units across the agency.

What you'll do:

  • Administer SQL Server, SQL Clusters, and standalone SQL databases on-prem and in the cloud
  • Own HA/DR design, failover testing, and disaster recovery drills
  • Plan and lead patching, installs, and server maintenance
  • Performance-tune queries, indexes, and server configuration
  • Support MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MS Access databases
  • Troubleshoot database and application issues, including SharePoint integrations
  • Work RFCs and ServiceNow tickets within SLAs
  • Monitor capacity and health with Idera and SolarWinds
  • Mentor the mid-level SQL DBA and deliver weekly activity reports

What you need:

  • 8+ years of SQL Server database administration experience
  • Deep experience with SQL Clustering, Always On/HA, and DR
  • Strong T-SQL and SQL scripting
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across teams

Preferred:

  • Microsoft certification (Azure Database Administrator Associate or prior MCSE/MCSA Data)
  • Federal or large enterprise support background
