  • Self-motivated and dependable leader with the ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, financial controls, and sound accounting practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Significant progressive accounting experience, including financial close, general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading accounting operations within a retail, multi-location, inventory-intensive, or high-transaction-volume environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and producing accurate, timely financial statements.
  • Experience maintaining accounting policies, reconciliations, documentation, approval controls, and segregation of duties.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, gross margin, and the financial reporting requirements of a retail organization.
  • Experience overseeing cash accounting, bank reconciliations, store deposits, ACH transactions, checks, wire transfers, and other disbursements.
  • Experience with cash-flow forecasting, treasury management, and monitoring banking activity for unusual or unauthorized transactions.
  • Experience maintaining fixed-asset records and ensuring appropriate capitalization and depreciation of buildings, equipment, technology, vehicles, fixtures, and leasehold improvements.
  • Experience tracking capital expenditures and projects from approval through completion and reconciling expenditures against approved budgets.
  • Experience coordinating sales and use tax preparation, reconciliation, and filing, as well as supporting federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Experience coordinating financial statement audits and responding to external reviews, tax audits, or governmental inquiries.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, document, implement, and continuously improve internal financial controls, segregation of duties, and approval authorities.
  • Ability to establish appropriate financial controls for decentralized, multi-location retail operations and conduct periodic reviews of financial processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, anomalies, and potential errors and provide meaningful recommendations to leadership.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, develop, and hold accounting team members accountable to clear responsibilities, deadlines, controls, and performance expectations.
  • Ability to develop cross-training and succession plans for critical accounting functions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build productive working relationships with store leadership, Operations, Merchandising, Human Resources, IT, Loss Prevention, Supply Chain, and executive leadership.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
