The Consultant plays a critical role in delivering exceptional client service and operational excellence within Asset Servicing. Supporting investment manager and fund company relationships, the role operates in a fast-paced, complex environment that requires strong custody knowledge, sound judgment, and effective risk management.

As a Consultant, you will serve as a trusted point of contact for assigned client and investment manager relationships, resolving complex inquiries, coordinating solutions across internal partner groups, and driving sustainable service improvements.

You will also serve as a technical resource for the service team, supporting the development of junior partners, promoting consistent servicing practices, and contributing to initiatives that enhance the custody service model.

Major Duties

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned GFS client and investment manager relationships, developing a thorough understanding of each relationship's servicing requirements, operating model, and priorities.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through proactive oversight of daily custody activities.
  • Manage complex inquiries and escalations by applying custody expertise across cash and securities activity, settlements, income and corporate actions, and other custody functions, in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Custody Operations, Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Investment Operations, Product, Technology, and other internal partners, as applicable, to resolve client and investment manager needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, client-appointed investment managers, and internal partners to drive process improvements and service enhancements.
  • Serve as an escalation point and technical resource for Client Service Representatives and other team members on complex or time-sensitive matters.
  • Support onboarding, training, and cross-training across the service team to strengthen coverage and build broader custody expertise.

Knowledge and Skills

  • College or university degree and/or 3+ years of relevant experience in financial services, custody, asset servicing, investment operations, or client servicing.
  • Experience working across operational and functional teams to deliver client solutions and resolve service issues.
  • Exposure to process improvement, operational transformation, automation, or technology enhancement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to less experienced team members preferred.
  • Strong understanding of global custody, securities processing, and cash operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex operational matters clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate risk, and drive resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and act with urgency.
  • Ability to adapt to changing client needs, market practices, and technology.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
