ABOUT NOUS

Nous is a household AI agent. It takes over the bills and admin people don't have time for and acts for them: switching energy, buying insurance, cancelling forgotten subscriptions, managing the family calendar. Nearly 250,000 UK households have signed up, and another joins every minute.

We think the real value of AI isn't writing amazing cover letters, it's doing useful things in the real world for real people. That's the hard part, and a brilliant product is only half of it. An energy switch takes weeks, so our agents run on long-running workflows, not a single chat turn. Cancelling a subscription means a browser agent handling the code Apple sends to your phone. Buying insurance meant getting our regulatory principal comfortable with an agent doing it end to end (a UK first), which comes down to knowing exactly when the LLM should hand over to rules because a mistake would cost someone real money.

We're about 30 people running one agent across energy, broadband, mobile, insurance, mortgages and subscriptions (with more being added), each with its own suppliers, rules and ways of going wrong. With far more problems than people, a person or small team owns each one end to end, from spotting it in the data or a customer conversation to shipping the fix. And because the agent acts, you find out quickly whether the fix worked.

Everyone builds here: a product engineer launched our subscription cancellation product within a couple of months of joining, and a PM rebuilt our WhatsApp agent.

And it's working. We're growing more than 20x year on year, with a market-leading NPS above +80, and we manage well over half a billion pounds of household spending. We've raised more than $30M from Heartcore, Mosaic and a who's who of entrepreneurs who founded Monzo, GoCardless, lastminute.com and Onfido. But the real draw is the team - ask anyone here why they joined and you'll get some version of "to do great work with really smart people".

The goal is household life that's simpler, cheaper and fairer, and most of that is still to build.

HOW WE BUILD (WORTH READING BEFORE THE ROLE)

How products get built is changing fast. With AI tooling, a PM can prototype, dig into production data and commit production code to get a change live all in an afternoon. An engineer can own a product area end to end and decide what to build next.

We're leaning into that. Our PMs lean into code and our engineers run products: one of our engineers owns the car insurance targets. We care about whatever gets the job done most effectively, regardless of once upon a time whose job it was meant to be.

We're moving fast and adapting as we go, and we don't have all the answers yet. What should a squad look like when everyone can build? Where does process still help, and where does it just slow you down? What's a PM for when an engineer can run the experiment themselves? We're working it out, and we want someone who is excited to be part of helping figure it out.

ABOUT THE ROLE

So where does a PM fit? A lot of our work still suits squads: clear targets, a few service lines and a team of engineers. Those squads need product managers to run them. All our roles in product overlap, but this one is centred on product management. If you’d rather spend all your time building, have a look at our Product Builder role.

You’ll take a squad responsible for a key section of our product and service lines and grow them: expand what they cover, understand the levers that drive their performance (automation, new suppliers, what we recommend to members) and increase their commercial value.

Being a Product Manager at Nous is one of the hardest roles we have. The product is complex and we move fast, so you need to be able to hold a lot of context. You'll switch between very different things all day: thinking about OKRs and the plan for the next couple of weeks one moment, getting a PR into production the next, while helping unblock an engineer.

That's also what makes it exciting.

You bring order to fast-moving work, get some sequencing in place so people aren’t each figuring it out on their own, evaluate what’s being shipped, own the reporting and keep the squad’s energy up. You won’t hesitate to make changes yourself, but you won’t be just another builder in the squad either: when you’re heads-down building, you can’t unblock anyone or bring the team together.

Growing a service line here means working across the boundary between product and commercial, so we’re particularly interested in PMs who’ve had real exposure to the commercial side of a business.

Our agent acts in the real world a lot, so saving someone money takes more than great product execution. We also need access to the best tariffs and suppliers, and we have to understand the regulation we operate in. And because Nous is an agent, your nice neat Amplitude funnels don't work: every user's journey can be totally different. So we're after PMs who are excited by everything it takes to make an agentic product work for real households, including the bits that wouldn't traditionally count as "product".

Worth being upfront: we can't tell you yet which service lines you'd own. It depends on the Venn diagram of your particular skill set and the problems we need to solve at the point you join.

WHAT MATTERS MOST

We need all of these at once:

- Sharp. You pick things up quickly and enjoy hard problems. Given a messy one, you can lay out what you know and what you'd check first, then change your mind as new data turns up.

- Adaptable. We’re working a lot of this out as we go, so the role and the squad will change, probably more than once. You enjoy that. You pick up whatever’s needed, PM work or not, and you work in the open: sharing rough thinking early and changing course when someone has a better idea.

- Delivery. You bring order to a fast-moving squad: clear priorities, sensible sequencing, people unblocked quickly, and an honest look at whether what shipped actually worked.

- Product craft. You find the real problem behind a request and make the trade-offs explicit. You care about the details of what our users actually see.

- Commercial and analytical. You know what your area made last month, what moved it and what you'd do next, and you answer most of your own questions with data. You think in conversion, margin and lifetime value as readily as in features.

- Energy. You've probably worked at a startup. You move fast, you're happy doing the unglamorous work yourself, and you'd rather ship this week's version than polish next quarter's.

And everyone builds here, PMs included. You'll use AI tooling (Claude Code or whatever gets it done) to prototype, dig into data and ship changes yourself. You don't need to be an engineer, but you shouldn't be scared of code.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

- Grow your service lines. Understand what really drives their performance, be able to measure it, and lead the squad to deliver it.

- Set the squad's OKRs and roadmap, get the sequencing in place, and drive fast, efficient execution.

- Evaluate what’s being shipped, and own the reporting: make sure the reports and the data behind them make sense.

- Work across product and commercial: the suppliers and tariffs we can offer, the regulation we work within, and what that means for what gets built.

- Run experiments, and unblock yourself on the analysis without always needing an analyst.

- Get close to members and ops. Read the conversations, sit with the people handling the edge cases, and fix the parts of the journey where people drop out or get stuck.

ABOUT YOU

You'll likely thrive here if:

- You've been a PM for a few years, ideally at a startup, and you've owned something with a number attached: revenue, conversion, retention.

- You've worked on the commercial side as well as the product side: a P&L, a supplier or partner relationship, pricing, or a whole service line.

- You're comfortable enough with data and code to unblock yourself.

Nice-to-haves:

- You were a software engineer before you moved into product.

- You've worked on a transactional or regulated product: insurance, fintech, energy, marketplaces.

- You've built and shipped your own thing: a startup, a side project, an internal tool that took off.

This probably isn't for you if your PM experience is mostly roadmaps and stakeholder management at a big company, with no number you owned.

HOW WE WORK

We keep the middle thin, on purpose. There's barely any middle management, which means fewer bottlenecks and room for exceptional people to have real impact without first being promoted into managing others. It's a real bet, not a free lunch. Instead of a manager buffer, you get lots of context and colleagues who help because they're invested, not because an org chart says so. If you need a clear remit handed down before you can move, this probably won't suit you.

Your first 90 days are built around getting you to real ownership safely: pairing when you want it, lots of context, and people who want you to ship. We celebrate the person who built the unglamorous version this week, not whoever thought of it first.

We're office-first, near Farringdon. We do a lot of our best thinking together and being in the same room helps, though we're pragmatic about heads-down work when you need it.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

Compelling package including share options with life-changing upside. We've raised enough to pay real salaries, and we all share in the upside. If we win, we win together.

- 🏢 A great office set up for collaborative work (we already need more whiteboards)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
