The posting

Novaspect, Inc., a 100% employee-owned Emerson Impact Partner and leader in process automation systems and solutions, is seeking an Information Systems Manager to join our Technology Team in Schaumburg, Illinois. Reporting to the Vice President of Technology, this leader will oversee the people and enterprise applications that support Novaspect’s business operations, including Salesforce CRM, IFS ERP, and connected systems. The position is accountable for team development, reliable application operations, disciplined delivery of enhancements and integrations, and continuous improvement of business processes.

The ideal candidate is an experienced people leader who combines enterprise application expertise with business judgment, technical fluency, and strong execution skills. This individual will establish clear priorities, develop a capable team, work effectively with business leaders, and direct internal and external technical resources. The role requires sound technical decision-making and the ability to lead through others rather than serving as the department’s primary developer. This position is based in Schaumburg, IL, with a minimum of three days per week onsite.

Information Systems Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities

People Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop IS analysts, administrators, and developers, establishing clear roles, performance expectations, and individual development plans.
  • Conduct regular performance conversations, address skill and performance gaps, and support hiring, employee engagement, cross-training, professional development, and succession planning.
  • Manage capacity and workload allocation across application support, development, and projects, with effective delegation and accountability for results.
  • Build a collaborative, service-oriented team culture focused on ownership, knowledge sharing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor team and application performance measures to improve service quality, delivery predictability, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.

Enterprise Application Operations and Support

  • Oversee the reliability, availability, performance, maintenance, and support of Salesforce, IFS, and related business-critical applications.
  • Establish service expectations, operating measures, escalation paths, and ownership for application incidents, requests, recurring problems, and stakeholder support.
  • Lead resolution of significant application issues and root causes, ensuring timely communication, effective follow-through, and lasting corrective actions.
  • Coordinate application upgrades, configuration changes, access practices, and production readiness with business owners, IT, and Cybersecurity.

Application Development and Integration Delivery

  • Manage the application development and enhancement backlog, translating approved priorities into realistic assignments, resource plans, and delivery commitments.
  • Direct application configuration, development, integrations, testing, and releases; guide technical decisions to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Establish practical development, change management, and quality assurance practices that enable timely delivery without compromising production stability.
  • Coordinate work and handoffs with Technology Project Managers, data and AI resources, vendors, and application owners, ensuring clear accountability for support after deployment.

Business Partnership and Continuous Improvement

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across Sales, Finance, Service, Operations, and other functions to understand business needs and establish shared priorities.
  • Translate operational challenges into practical system and process improvements that reduce manual work, strengthen data quality, and improve productivity and user experience.
  • Communicate plans, progress, delivery risks, resource constraints, and tradeoffs clearly to technical teams, business stakeholders, and Technology leadership.
  • Work with business owners to evaluate adoption and outcomes, demonstrating the value and effectiveness of delivered improvements.

Governance, Vendors, and Resource Management

  • Maintain appropriate application documentation, access controls, change records, and operational standards, supporting security, data governance, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee application vendors, consultants, and outsourced support or development resources, setting expectations for quality, delivery, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Support application budgets, licensing, workforce planning, and vendor evaluations to ensure effective use of resources and technology investments.

Information Systems Manager Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Eight or more years of progressive experience in enterprise applications, information systems, or related technology functions.

  • Experience leading the support and enhancement of complex, integrated ERP and/or CRM environments, including dependencies across applications, data, and business processes.
  • Proven ability to manage development or integration work, balance operational and project priorities, and deliver reliable solutions through technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise application architecture, databases, APIs, integration patterns, testing, change management, and production releases.
  • Experience directing work performed by consultants, vendors, or external technology providers and managing competing resource demands.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and business partnership skills, including the ability to engage senior leaders and technical teams.

Information Systems Manager Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce and/or IFS, including platform administration, configuration, development, integrations, or application management.
  • Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, distribution, engineering, field service, or a related business-to-business environment.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed or outsourced application development and support resources.
  • Familiarity with SQL, enterprise reporting and analytics, data integration, business process automation, or AI-enabled business applications.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL service management, Agile or hybrid development approaches, and application-related internal controls.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
