The posting

Your impact begins here

As a Design Engineer in Secondary Packaging, you will work as a secondary packaging engineer, shaping how Novo’s cartons and leaflets look, feel and work in people’s hands. Packaging is moving in a more consumer-oriented direction, starting with obesity products for the US market. You will turn consumer insight into visually engaging secondary packaging designs that still protect the product and run reliably in production. Your ideas will help make everyday treatment clearer and more personal for the people who use it.

What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who brings design thinking and fresh perspectives and has the experience to become productive quickly.

  • Experience in secondary packaging or practical packaging design, or in developing physical products from concept through prototyping, testing and implementation.
  • Strong visual communication and design-thinking skills, including the ability to develop visually attractive concepts, using Adobe Illustrator or comparable tools.
  • Practical skills in CAD, 3D modelling and technical drawings.
  • An understanding of how design concepts become manufacturable products, and how choices on materials and production affect product protection and feasibility.
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder skills, and the ability to explain and defend your design choices.
  • A proactive, curious and collaborative way of working: you take initiative, challenge assumptions constructively and stay calm when priorities shift.
  • A degree in industrial design, design engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Useful, but not essential:

  • Experience from consumer goods, premium or luxury brands, beauty and cosmetics, food, electronics or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of paper-based packaging, converting or printing processes.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, sustainable packaging or structured continuous improvement.

What you’ll do

You will take packaging ideas from first brief to a design that works in production, balancing consumer experience with practical constraints.

  • Develop and improve secondary packaging, such as cartons and leaflets, so that it creates a stronger visual and consumer experience while meeting functional requirements.
  • Translate user needs and technical requirements into structural designs that balance usability, product protection, manufacturability, sustainability and cost.
  • Make ideas tangible through CAD, 3D modelling, visual communication and prototypes that help colleagues make informed decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain drawings, specifications and design documentation that suppliers and production sites can work from.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and keep development moving through testing, decisions and implementation.
  • Investigate complaints, deviations and production challenges, and use evidence to develop and verify improvements.

Who you’ll work with

You will join Secondary Pack, a team positioned at the intersection of Device Delivery Innovation, Quality and Production. The team supports Novo’s development and already marketed secondary packaging portfolio, and is responsible for specifications and material requirements. The team is based in Hillerød, and your manager is Martin Schlie Egholm.

Your closest partners will be colleagues in production, sourcing, quality, regulatory affairs and R&D, as well as affiliates and external suppliers. Together you will connect design decisions with everyday use and production across global sites. You will bring creativity into a technically demanding environment, and we expect you to speak up early, ask questions and help teams move from idea to decision.

What you can expect here

You will be trusted to take ownership, share your perspective and contribute your expertise from the start. Working across design, production, quality and supplier teams, you will build new skills and see how your work performs in real life. You will be supported to perform at your best, in a team that values curiosity, honest feedback and clear priorities.

What we offer

At Novo, you’ll join a global healthcare company with a unique culture and strong results. We offer continuous learning, career development, and benefits tailored to your life and career stage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
