Your role at a glance

The Senior Electrical Solutions Engineer is a core Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Global Solutions Engineering, providing advanced electrical engineering expertise and technical leadership to the broader Solutions Engineering organization primarily across EMEA, while also supporting India, APAC, and the Americas as required. The role translates complex hyperscale and neocloud/enterprise customer requirements into practical, scalable, resilient, and commercially viable data center electrical solutions, with particular emphasis on high-density compute environments and increasingly complex power distribution architectures.

This individual contributor will develop electrical solutions from initial customer requirements through approximately 30% schematic design, producing the drawings, single-line diagrams, calculations, equipment selections, technical narratives, basis-of-design documentation, and scope definition required for Design Management, Procurement, and Construction teams to price, develop, and execute customer fit-out projects. The engineer will evaluate and develop solutions involving medium- and low-voltage distribution, UPS systems, generators, transformers, switchgear, PDUs/RPPs, busway, rack power distribution, protection and coordination, grounding, metering, power quality, and resilient electrical topologies supporting mission-critical data center environments.

Based in the UK, or the Netherlands, the engineer will operate as a global technical resource and may occasionally participate in customer and internal meetings across multiple time zones. The engineer will serve as a senior electrical technical authority during customer discussions, technical workshops, site assessments, due diligence activities, RFIs/RFPs, and solution-development efforts.

What we are looking for

As the Senior Electrical Solutions Engineer, you will be a key technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within our Global Solutions Engineering team, helping shape innovative data center solutions for hyperscale, cloud and enterprise customers. You will transform complex customer requirements into resilient, scalable and commercially viable electrical designs, supporting some of the world's most demanding mission-critical environments.

Working closely with customers, sales, design and delivery teams, you will develop electrical solutions from concept through early-stage design, producing the technical documentation needed to support successful project delivery. Your expertise will span critical power infrastructure, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers and resilient power architectures designed to support high-density computing environments.

As a trusted advisor and SME, you will lead technical workshops, customer engagements, due diligence activities and solution development discussions, playing a pivotal role in delivering world-class data center solutions and helping customers meet their evolving business needs.

Based in the UK or the Netherlands, you will operate as a global technical resource, partnering with customers and internal teams across multiple regions. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to contribute to some of the world's most advanced data center projects, with occasional travel primarily across EMEA and, where required, internationally, supporting customer engagements, site assessments and project delivery activities.

What will you do?

  • Reports to the Director of Central Solutions Engineering for Global Solutions Engineering and serves as the EMEA Electrical SME and escalation point for the Global Solutions Engineering organization, supporting Solutions Engineers with technical interpretation, solution development, customer discussions, electrical capacity assessments, and technical risk identification
  • Lead electrical solutioning for hyperscale, AI/HPC, neocloud, and enterprise opportunities, with strong emphasis on high-density deployments, resilient power architectures, customer fit-outs, and integration into both new and existing data center infrastructure
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of electrical technical response packages for customer requests, RFPs, SOQs, technical clarifications, and design-development activities, ensuring proposed solutions are clearly documented and communicated to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Support NTT Data GDC Legal and Commercial teams in the technical review of customer contracts, leases, MSAs, SLAs, responsibility matrices, technical exhibits, and related agreements to confirm that electrical obligations, performance commitments, demarcations, and customer requirements are technically achievable and aligned with NTT Data GDC standards
  • Translate customer RFPs, SOQs, CDEs, technical schedules, design criteria, and engineering standards into electrical concepts that align customer requirements with NTT Data GDC standards, available site infrastructure, resiliency objectives, schedule, and commercial requirements
  • Develop electrical design concepts through approximately 30% schematic design, including single-line diagrams, power distribution concepts, equipment layouts, feeder and busway routing concepts, equipment connection points, system zoning, redundancy strategies, design criteria, protection philosophy, and supporting technical markups
  • Prepare sufficiently detailed schematic packages and technical scope information for Construction / Preconstruction teams to establish fit-out pricing, identify Non-Recurring Costs (NRC), evaluate long-lead equipment requirements, and assess schedule impacts and delivery risks
  • Perform or validate engineering calculations and technical analyses including electrical load calculations, power striping calculations, normal and failure-mode load allocation, failover calculations, transformer and UPS loading, generator loading, feeder and busway sizing, voltage drop, available fault current, equipment interrupting ratings, redundancy capacity, and electrical system operating envelopes
  • Perform power striping and failover assessments to confirm that IT load can be appropriately distributed across available power trains under normal, maintenance, and failure conditions, and verify that proposed solutions remain within the capacity limits of generators, UPS systems, transformers, switchgear, PDUs/RPPs, busway, and downstream distribution equipment
  • Develop electrical solutions for high-density and AI/GPU deployments, including evaluation of rack power requirements, diversity, power factor, harmonic loading, transient characteristics, busway and RPP configurations, branch-circuit distribution, and coordination with liquid-cooling and other high-density mechanical systems
  • Participate directly in customer workshops, technical deep-dives, RFP clarifications, site visits, design reviews, and executive / technical presentations; communicate complex electrical engineering concepts clearly to both technical and non-discipline audiences
  • Develop technical narratives and scope-of-work documentation including intake forms, Basis of Design input, electrical design criteria, assumptions, deviations, exclusions, demarcation points, and other documentation required to transition solutions from Sales / Solutions Engineering into design and construction execution
  • Host and support technical tours of NTT Data GDC facilities, explaining electrical infrastructure, resiliency philosophy, capacity, operating methodology, and customer deployment options to prospects, customers, and partners

What are we looking for?

  • Deep practical expertise in hyperscale, neocloud, AI/HPC, and high-density electrical architectures, including 2N, N+1, distributed redundant, catcher, block-redundant, and other mission-critical power topologies
  • Strong understanding of electrical load allocation, power striping, failover calculations, failure-domain analysis, and capacity balancing across generators, UPS systems, transformers, switchgear, PDUs/RPPs, busway, and rack-level distribution
  • Strong ability to develop schematic-level electrical engineering documentation and markups in Bluebeam. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, AmpCalc, or similar tools, including single-line diagrams, electrical risers, equipment layouts, feeder routing concepts, busway layouts, and customer fit-out concepts, is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of power-quality requirements, including voltage tolerance, frequency tolerance, harmonics, THD, power factor, transient performance, waveform capture, and customer-specific server power-quality criteria.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to mark-up electrical and mechanical single lines, as well as floor plan layouts of equipment and systems in AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other drafting software.
  • Ability to develop and write a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline required; master’s degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience of relevant electrical engineering experience in mission-critical facilities, hyperscale data centers, high-density compute or similarly complex infrastructure environments.
  • Experience developing schematic or concept designs and carrying sufficient detail into construction pricing / preconstruction is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working for a hyperscaler, data center operator, engineering consultant, OEM, or major mission-critical contractor is highly desirable.
