About the Team
The NKP (Nutanix Kubertenes Platform) team is building an enterprise-grade management platform for the containerized world. We are developing a fully cloud-native architecture designed to securely deploy, run, and manage Kubernetes clusters seamlessly across any hybrid or multi-cloud environment.
NKP offers Container Attached Storage using Kubernetes pods to run AOS distributed storage fabric (Cloud Native AOS), enabling seamless integration with cloud native stateful workloads. The platform offers scale out, resilient and tiered storage. Supports storage features such as dynamic provisioning, thin provisioning, data efficiency, and application-centric snapshots. Cloud Native AOS can be used in both hyperconverged and disaggregated storage environments in a hybrid cloud environment. The stateful application Pods use the Nutanix CSI driver to consume storage entities that the AOS Pods present as Persistent Volumes. Much Like an on-premise HCI setup, Cloud Native AOS too provides all core Nutanix data management and copy data management functionalities.
The Role We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager who is a “builder” at heart—someone who can architect complex storage software and, more importantly, architect the careers of the engineers who write it.
In this role, you will lead a team of talented junior and mid-level engineers. You will serve as the technical anchor and mentor, guiding the team through the challenges of containerizing our services while ensuring our storage control path remains the gold standard for performance and reliability.
You will design secure-by-default architectures, develop Kubernetes Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) and operators, and ensure our Container Storage Interface (CSI) implementations are hardened against modern attack vectors while effortlessly serving enterprise and AI workloads.
Key Responsibilities.
- Cloud-Native Development: Design and build advanced Kubernetes Controllers, Operators, and CRDs in Golang to natively orchestrate and secure storage workloads
- Architect, design and develop storage software for a computing+storage platform, Storage for AI - for cloud native environment.
- Distributed Systems Engineering: Tackle complex problems in large-scale distributed systems, focusing on performance, scaling out, and resiliency.
- Improve data path performance, scale-out and resiliency of our distributed control plane.
- Work closely with other development teams, testers, documentation writers and product management to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environment.
- Engage with customers and support when needed to solve production issues
- Technical Leadership: Drive architectural reviews, establish secure coding standards, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers to act as a technical force multiplier.
What You Will Bring
- Experience: 12-18 years of software engineering experience and 2+ years of team management, with a proven track record of building large-scale distributed systems, cloud native platforms, or cloud infrastructure.
- Storage Fundamentals: Solid conceptual and practical understanding of distributed storage systems (block, file, object), data replication, deduplication, and high availability. Understanding of the storage access protocols and features viz. SCSI/iSCSI/NFS/CIFS/S3/Cloud. Familiarity with x86 architecture, virtualization and/or storage management.
- Kubernetes Expertise: Deep expertise in Golang and extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes internals, building Operators/Controllers, Container Storage Interface (CSI), CNI, SCCs, MCS preferred
- Systems Engineering: Strong background in Linux OS internals, networking, container runtimes (containerd, Docker), file systems, database back-ends, distributed storage systems and cloud based storage technologies. Experience with Hadoop, MapReduce, Cassandra, Zookeeper and other large-scale distributed systems preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Work Arrangement Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. This role is based out of Pune, where employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager
