About O’Keefe Media Group

O’Keefe Media Group is an independent media organization founded by investigative journalist James O’Keefe. OMG produces investigative reporting, undercover journalism, and original programming focused on matters of public interest, institutional accountability, and government and corporate misconduct. By combining the work of an experienced in-house media team with a nationwide network of citizen journalists, OMG seeks to equip Americans to document events, uncover facts, and bring important stories directly to the public.

Position Overview

O’Keefe Media Group is seeking a Video Editor and Videographer to lead post-production and field video execution for investigative journalism projects. This position owns the video process from field capture through final delivery, producing compelling long-form investigation stories and short-form digital content under demanding deadlines.

The role requires strong technical ability, editorial judgment, leadership, discretion, and the ability to remain composed and solutions-oriented in unpredictable environments. The successful candidate must be local or willing to relocate, available for extensive travel, and prepared to work extended hours when assignments require it.

Areas of Accountability

Investigative Video Production

Objective: Capture compelling, technically-sound footage that supports OMG’s investigative reporting.

Measures of Success

  • Field footage consistently meets professional visual and audio standards.
  • Assignments are completed effectively across studio, field, travel, and sensitive environments.
  • Equipment and production needs are anticipated before deployment.
  • Journalistic discretion, confidentiality, and situational awareness are maintained in the field.

Post-Production and Storytelling

Objective: Transform raw footage and reporting into accurate, compelling, publish-ready investigations.

Measures of Success

  • Long-form projects are clearly structured, engaging, and aligned with the intended editorial direction.
  • Final edits meet standards for accuracy, pacing, sound, visual quality, and legal defensibility.
  • Feedback is incorporated promptly and professionally.
  • Projects are delivered on schedule despite changing priorities or compressed timelines.

Short-Form Content and Audience Reach

Objective: Extend the reach of OMG’s reporting through effective short-form and promotional video.

Measures of Success

  • Compelling moments are consistently identified and adapted for social platforms.
  • Short-form videos improve audience reach, engagement, sharing, and conversion.
  • Content is formatted and optimized for each platform.
  • Social content accurately represents the underlying investigation and OMG’s mission.

Production Execution and Excellence

Objective: Complete assignments with speed, accuracy, professionalism, and responsible use of

resources.

Measures of Success

  • Multiple projects move efficiently from capture through final delivery.
  • Production risks, delays, and resource needs are communicated early.
  • Footage, project files, equipment, and documentation remain organized and secure.
  • The employee responds constructively to pressure, changing direction, and unexpected challenges.
  • Problems are accompanied by practical solutions and do not become recurring production obstacles.

Work Requirements

  • Full-time, in-office position in West Palm Beach, Florida.
  • Must be local or willing to relocate.
  • Extensive nationwide travel of up to 80 percent.
  • Extended and irregular hours, including days exceeding 12 hours, may be required based on assignments and news developments.
  • Must be able to work effectively in demanding, fast-moving, and occasionally sensitive environments.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of professional video editing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of video cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and field recording workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce polished long-form and short-form video content.
  • Experience translating abstract concepts and raw reporting into clear visual stories.
  • Strong leadership experience managing or mentoring creative professionals.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and deadline management skills.
  • Ability to accept direct feedback, adapt quickly, and remain professional under sustained pressure.
  • Sound editorial judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential material.
  • Demonstrated reliability, resilience, initiative, and follow-through.
  • Commitment to truth, accountability, investigative journalism, and OMG’s mission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in investigative journalism, documentary production, news, political media, or independent media.
  • Experience filming in unpredictable field environments or on sensitive assignments.
  • Proficiency with professional editing, color, audio, and media-management software.
  • Experience creating high-performing social and digital video content.
  • Familiarity with secure footage handling, archival practices, and collaborative production workflows.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
