OAKNORTH · JOB ADVERT

Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis

Finance · FP&A

ABOUT US

At OakNorth, we’re on a mission to empower ambitious businesses and the communities they serve. Since 2015, we’ve lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while driving economic growth in the markets we serve.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The FP&A team at OakNorth is a high-impact function that sits at the intersection of finance and strategy, partnering with senior leadership — including the Global CFO — to drive financial planning, performance reporting, and strategic decision-making. We build the frameworks, models, and narratives that translate financial data into clear, actionable insight for the business, its board, and its investors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Manager to join our FP&A team, owning the production of MIS, management packs, and board presentations while partnering closely with business and functional leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and cost management. You’ll draft management commentary, oversee monthly P&L tracking, contribute to investor relations, and build scalable reporting frameworks — all while engaging directly with senior leadership to support strategic decisions. This is an ideal role for a commercially sharp finance professional who combines technical excellence with strong storytelling and stakeholder management skills.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Prepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly MIS, management packs, and board and executive presentations, ensuring financial insights are communicated clearly and compellingly.

- Draft management commentary and narratives that explain performance trends, highlight risks and opportunities, and translate financials into actionable business implications.

- Partner with business and functional leaders to manage cost budgets, track headcount, and monitor operating expenses, driving cost discipline and efficiency across the organisation.

- Oversee monthly P&L tracking and closing, working closely with the Controllership team to ensure accuracy and insightfulness of reporting.

- Engage and communicate effectively with the Global CFO and Senior Management, providing clear, concise, and actionable insights that support strategic decisions.

- Support financial planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis, building robust models to underpin decision-making; contribute to annual budgets, multi-year financial plans, stress testing, and scenario planning.

- Contribute to external reporting and investor relations, including quarterly results, board materials, fundraising initiatives, and due diligence processes.

- Build scalable reporting frameworks, leveraging automation and visualisation tools to enhance efficiency and insight delivery.

YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…

- 6+ years of experience in FP&A and/or Equity Research, preferably within banking or fintech, with a strong understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, and key business and financial drivers.

- Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis, with the ability to link financial results to operational and accounting drivers.

- Advanced Excel skills including financial modelling and automated templates (Macros/VBA preferred); strong PowerPoint skills to craft compelling, insight-driven presentations.

- Hands-on experience with dashboarding and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau; ability to work with GL/ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite) and data warehouses to automate and scale reporting.

- Excellent storytelling, influencing, and partnering skills, with the ability to simplify complex analysis into clear business messages for senior leadership.

- Chartered Accountant or MBA (Finance) from a reputable institution.

Nice to Have

- Familiarity with AI and automation solutions for forecasting, scenario planning, insight generation, and commentary writing, with the ability to integrate such tools into FP&A workflows.

- Experience contributing to investor relations, fundraising materials, or board-level reporting.

- Exposure to strategic planning and long-term financial modelling in a multinational environment.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Health & Protection: Comprehensive medical cover for you, your family, and parents, along with life and accidental insurance cover at a multiple of your salary.

- Wellbeing: Annual health check-ups, online doctor consultations, pharmacy discounts, nutritionist support, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services — all sponsored by OakNorth.

- Time Off: Earned leave, casual/sick leave, public holidays, maternity leave, and paternity leave.

- Life Milestones: Financial support for important life events such as marriage, childbirth, and bereavement.

- Flexible Benefits: Tax-efficient allowances for internet, fuel, meals, leave travel, and National Pension System (NPS) contributions.

- Growth & Development: Support for professional certifications, learning and development opportunities, childcare benefits, and paid volunteering days.

- Our Workplace: Modern, centrally located offices, weekly business updates, team events, and great coffee. We work hard to build a culture worth showing up for.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
