The posting

Old Mission is a global proprietary trading firm that leverages state-of-the-art technology and research to identify and execute profitable trading strategies across multiple asset classes around the world. Our offices in Chicago, New York, and London are all composed of naturally-curious individuals who thrive in a team environment and constantly strive for improvement.

About the Position

Old Mission is a proprietary quantitative trading firm and is currently recruiting a Fundamental Research Analyst to join our APAC office. This Fundamental Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting economic, event-driven, and company-specific research and analysis and will work with the team to discover new trading opportunities for the firm. We value idea generation over reporting. We are looking for someone who can stay up to the minute with breaking market events, use fundamental principles to interpret them quantitatively, and help influence trading decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze financial/events/information that will have an impact on the options of underlying securities
  • Support traders by being the sole point of contact for conducting quantitative and macroeconomic research
  • Analyze datasets to identify their potential impact on the price of certain securities and their underlying options
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on information that could affect trading decisions
  • Collaborate directly with traders by providing them with the fundamental overlay necessary to do many things, including developing tools, analyzing market data, and testing strategies

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a Research Analyst Role.
  • A demonstrable passion for the financial markets as well as for problem solving and pattern recognition.
  • Exceptional communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a time-sensitive, fast-paced, collaborative, and collegial environment.
  • A strong quantitative, analytical and research-oriented skill set.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Reuters.
  • Programming skills in Python will get you bonus points!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
