About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can architect and build the foundations of our AI-driven contact center platform. You’ll be at the forefront of making strategic decisions about technologies, frameworks, and infrastructure, ensuring our systems remain lean and simple while accommodating rapid growth. We need someone who’s comfortable solving big problems using the right tool for the job—no matter the language or framework—so we can deliver scalable, reliable, and performant solutions.
What you’ll do
- Architect and implement core backend services and APIs that power our AI-driven contact center experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Front-end, Product, AI/ML) to design data flows that are both efficient and flexible.
- Drive technology choices by evaluating multiple languages, frameworks, and services—focusing on practicality, scalability, and ease of maintenance.
- Ensure code quality and maintainability by following (and helping define) best practices, design patterns, and standards.
- Mentor and guide junior to mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Participate in architecture discussions that influence the overall technical direction of the platform, avoiding over-engineering and prioritizing simplicity.
- Champion reliability and performance, including implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for a smooth end-to-end user experience.
What we’re seeking
Must Have
- 5+ years of professional experience building and operating backend systems (microservices, APIs, data pipelines, etc.).
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js, C#) and willingness to learn new ones.
- Strong understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling best practices.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven ability to make thoughtful trade-offs between performance, reliability, and simplicity.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines and the nuances of handling large datasets.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar) and real-time data processing.
- Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, alerting).
- Comfortable leading sprint planning and driving technical roadmaps for backend services.
- Contributions to open-source projects or personal repos showcasing backend expertise.
